This is a beautiful survivor Triumph TR6 in a very well-cared for condition. The engine and commission numbers match (first five letters/numbers) showing the car still has the original engine. Mileage is deemed as original mileage but with this age of car it's hard to say for sure.

Just installed: A brand new Polished Stainless Steel radiator shroud by Goodparts.

How does the car perform? The car always starts easily and drives very well. It feels very solid and planted on the road. The normal TR6 rattles are not evident. The twin Zenith Strombergs have just been tuned and synced and they start easily with or without choke being used. The car has plenty of power and revs well through the rev range. Engine braking is normal. Vacuum reading is steady at approx. 15 to 16 Hg. The (original front disk and rear drum) brakes perform very well and it's easily capable of locking the wheels when braking if you want to. The steering is planted and tight feeling.

Does everything work? All the gages and lights work well. The speedo and tach cables probably could do with replacement or servicing at some point. The interior lights all seem to work fine. The hazard flasher does not work but there is a replacement in the parts box. The dimmer for the interior lights does not work. The heater and fan all works perfectly. The interior controls all work fine. The seats tilt up, they slide backwards and forwards easily and they recline easily. The seat belts function and recoil. The emergency/parking brake works very well. The AM/FM stereo/mono radio works well. The antenna is broken and needs to be replaced but still works. The mirrors work fine.

What is the condition of the bodywork? The car still has much of the original paintwork and it is in very good condition. There are a few little marks and scratches here and there. Under the hood the paintwork on the firewall and on the inner fenders and engine bay is really clean and nice. The fenders and doors all fit very well. The doors open and close without a hitch. The door keepers are missing and new replacements are in the parts box. The trunk lid inside and outside is in great shape. The luggage rack is an original item and is great. The chrome on the rear bumper is in good condition. The front bumper was painted black by a previous owner and looks great. It is rust free and could be re-chromed or replaced. The front spoiler is in excellent shape. The hood is gorgeous and both top and underside the paint is very nice. The hood needs adjustment as the top edge is rubbing a little. Other chrome on the car is in great shape. The windshield is very clean and clear. The plastic windows on the soft top are clean and clear (not yellowed at all). Overall the soft top is in excellent condition even though it has shrunk over the years. The soft top frame is in excellent condition. The majority of the car is rust-free. There are two very small lines of rust bubbles on the upper rear deck that the previous owner said have not changed in more than 6 years. The car hasn't seen rain in more than 15 years according to the previous owner. The frame is RUST-FREE and solid. No rust on the floorpans and NO RUST in the trunk at all. The trunk still has the original leather strap for the tools by the spare wheel. The cover for the spare wheel is complete and in great shape with no rips or wear marks. The trunk liner is all there.

How is the engine and drivetrain? The engine performs well and feel strong. The engine ticks over well and sounds fabulous through the Bell exhaust system. There is no tappet rattle. The engine bay looks original yet quite clean with all the new hoses etc. and the polished radiator shroud. The radiator has no leaks and handles the normal running of the engine. The valve cover is clean and the oil filler cap is polished. The actual engine block has oil/grease on it. The engine has a very minor oil leak as does the rear diff (TR6's don't leak oil they mark their territory). The inner fenders are very clean and free of debris. The wiring is all very clean and unmolested throughout the car. The transmission is the original 4-speed and has been refurbished. It changes gear well and there is no unusual noise from the gearbox. Gear changes are easy, positive and solid and the car does not jump out of any gears. The clutch works very well. The differential doesn't make any unusual noises. Both the transmission and differential fluid levels were checked within the past two weeks (they didn't need topping off).

How is the interior? The seats are in great shape. The previous owner re-stuffed them and they feel great when driving. The driver's seat has a wear-through spot down at the base of the backrest/seat. The passenger side headrest has faded from the sun. But apart from that the interior is great. The door panels and rear panel are all complete and beautiful with no rips or tears or wear marks. The wooden dash needs to be refurbished or replaced at some point down the road as the original veneer has seen better days on the open road. The soft top interior is great and all the interior snaps fit and work well. The new carpeting the previous owner installed is really nice and snug and he put custom underlayment down too.

Why are you selling this gorgeous TR6? I bought the car excitedly, and on a whim. It is my 4th Triumph and I love them. But I have two small kids and it's going to be far too long before I can safely enjoy their company in the TR6 and even then, I can never take them both with me at one time along with the Missus. So I have decided to sell it to someone else and replace it with a fun project car with 4 seats this time :)

The car comes with:
An original vinyl soft top boot cover.
An original vinyl tonneau cover.
A Covercraft custom fit car cover.
A copy of Bentley's workshop repair manual for the TR6.
The original owner's manual in the glove box.
A copy of Roger William's TR5/TR250 and TR6 Restoration Guide.
A copy of 'The Triumph TRs' by Graham Robson.
A box with new WIX oil filters, various new gaskets, a Brand New set of twin Lucas horns, a new set of door keepers, and some other spare bulbs and items.
A British 'Union Jack/Flag Umbrella' for cruises and car shows.
A replacement Hazard flasher switch and wiring unit.
A jack (not original) and the ORIGINAL spinning wheel lug wrench.

Overall this is a great driver's car and would be a great candidate for a future restoration if the new owner decided so. I have owned and enjoyed this car for a while and it always raises eyebrows, big smiles and draws a lot of attention.

I would be happy to assist with loading onto a transporter or trailer ready for shipment. I can arrange for temporary storage if necessary (at the buyer's cost). I will ensure the additional items are securely packed into the car ready for shipment, if that helps. Please contact me if you'd like additional photos or descriptions of anything to do with the car.

The winning bidder must pay for the car in full prior to pickup or shipment. The car is sold as is with no warranty or guarantees. I have done my best to give a very detailed description of the positives and negatives about the car. I have the car for sale locally and I reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time. Bidders with less than 100% positive feedback or with 0 to 5 feedback must contact me first prior to bidding or risk their bids being cancelled. The winning bidder must contact me directly immediately after the auction closes to arrange for payment and pickup.

Jaguar F Type V6 S vs Triumph Street Triple R in open-air track attack

Sun, 21 Sep 2014

Typically, these track battle videos pair up car against car or, in more disparate circumstances, car versus crossover, as we saw the other day. While the outcome of that battle was quite predictable, what'll happen when an equally fetching (and fast) four-wheeler is put up against one of the icons of the two-wheeled world? Evo just had to find out.
Matching up a Jaguar F-Type V6 S Convertible against a Triumph Street Triple R is at least more of an even fight than the last battle between the Porsche Cayman GTS and Macan Turbo. The Triumph has a 675-cc engine to work with, and is very light. Meanwhile, the Jag has a thumping 380-horsepower, 3.0-liter, supercharged V6 to haul about it's considerably heftier heft. Who will come out on top?
You'll need to watch the full video to find out.
