1982 Toyota Land Cruiser. 202,450 original miles. This vehicle was purchased with the intention of finishing an already started rebuild. It now needs a new home as time and money have both run short. VIN records are not available however it does pass the Theft and Total Loss checks through NICB VIN Check, please see the picture.

Good:
Clean title.
NO signs of abuse. Under body is clean, honestly looks like its never been off road.
Original paint is in good shape for the year.
Original interior is mostly complete and relatively clean.
Motor starts on first try and runs great. (Video link will be posted shortly).
Transmission shifts smoothly through all gears.
Brand new Weber dual carburetor. Includes original carb and air cleaner. Please note the Weber carb is NOT STREET LEGAL, original carb will need to be re installed if this vehicles is to be registered and driven on the street. This is true for California but may be different in your state, please check your local laws!
Brand new choke cable (not installed).
New Exedy OEM clutch.
New aftermarket radiator.
New aftermarket alternator.
Inline 12v fuel pump.
Bottom end rebuilt by previous owner. Less than 200 miles on it.
Ignition, door locks and fuel lock all match and key works in all.

Bad:
Was missing some shift linkage parts when purchased, but had been rigged to run. We installed the Weber carb but have not reinstalled the rigged shift linkage as it was not safe. Therefore this vehicle DOES NOT DRIVE. WILL NEED TO BE TOWED from ZIP CODE 92536.
Needs new master cylinder. Holds fluid long enough to drive a ways but leaks pretty quickly.
One tire will not hold air.
Mis-matched tires and wheels.
Missing battery tray.
Hood and rear hatch do not stay up by themselves.
Driver seat belt does not retract.
Missing stereo. Aftermarket speakers and wiring in tact.
Some dents/scratches (see pictures).
Broken passenger side tail light.
Fuel corrosion in paint around fuel door.
Missing driver side fog light.
Needs timing and idle adjustment.
Approx $265 of DMV fees owed. This is an estimate using the DMV fee calculator, please see the picture attached. It will cost MORE than this to register as there will be SALES TAX.

This is a great project vehicle that does not need alot to be road worthy, or strip it down and go off road. Please remember this vehicle DOES NOT DRIVE and will need to be towed from zip code 92536. Also the Weber carb that is currently installed is not street legal. The original carb and air cleaner are included but MAY NOT BE entirely complete, and will definitely need to be rebuilt if they are to be used. The vehicles is available to be picked up by the motor carrier of your choice from 8am-8pm 7 days a week. Will need to be removed within 14 days of receiving cleared payment. $250 payment due thru paypal within 24 hours of end of auction, balance due within 7 days of end of auction, via bank deposit, cash, or money order/cashiers check. In the event payment is made via money order or cashiers check, the vehicle will be held for 10 business days to ensure the check clears not only my bank but the issuing bank also. Buyer will receive a clean original California title via mail or with the vehicle, it will be pre-signed and new owner information left blank. The vehicles was previously going to be sold so the sale date marked on the title is Nov 13th 2012, I do not know if this can be modified or left as is. Please check with your local DMV.

Why Toyota Camry's Korea Car of the Year win is a big-time upset

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

The 2013 Toyota Camry is officially the car of the year in Korea. The country's motoring press graced the Japanese sedan with the honor for the first time, officially marking a shift in prevailing Korean attitudes toward Japan and its products. According to industry analysts, buyers in the country are no longer simply choosing their purchases based on whether or not they're made in South Korea, but rather based on quality and personal choice. That's a big jump from a few years ago, when buyers viewed their purchases through a patriotic lens.
The Camry managed to edge out a total of 44 other cars, including hardware from both Hyundai and Kia, to become the first foreign vehicle to take home the Korea Automobile Journalist Association's Car of the Year award. As The Detroit News points out, just 10 years ago, domestic manufacturers held some 99 percent of the Korean car market. But a change in trade regulations has opened up the country considerably, and buyers now have access to a wide range of products from around the globe. As a result, Hyundai and Kia have countered by cutting prices in an attempt to keep their grip on the market.

Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race Scion FR-S [w/video]

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Toyota has been hosting its Pro/Celebrity race at the Toyota Grand Prix on Long Beach since 1977. The charity event, which has raised millions of dollars over the years, traditionally pits Hollywood celebrities against professional athletes (including race car drivers) on the full Grand Prix course in modified street vehicles. The short, sprint-style race is popular with the crowds as the amateur drivers race uninhibited - the result is an action-packed race with plenty of excitement and automotive... er... carnage.
Over the decades, the drivers have raced a variety of Toyota products including last year's front-wheel-drive Scion tC. But this year, Toyota announced at the Chicago Auto Show that the new rear-wheel-drive Scion FR-S would be stepping up to the plate. The good news only became better when Toyota Motorsports invited us out to Southern California's Willow Springs Raceway (the same circuit where the drivers train and practice) to be one of the first behind the wheel.

Expedition drives from Russia to Canada over North Pole...

Tue, 21 May 2013

No, a Ford Expedition did not drive from Russia to Canada via the North Pole, but that's exactly what a team of intrepid explorers accomplished recently. Using specially-modified buses with massive tires, the group slowly drove 2,485 miles in 70 days over drifting ice, occasionally using a pickaxe to clear a path and staying on guard for chasms that could open up and plunge the team into the frigid arctic waters. Average speeds were about 6 mph, "at the speed of a (farm) tractor." While the big tires technically allowed the buses to float if the need arose, the team preferred to stay out of the water to keep the suspension from getting coated in thick, hard ice. Falling in on foot would mean almost certain death.
According to Phys.org, the buses were powered by Toyota diesel engines, but were built with prototype parts from a previous driving expedition to the North Pole. Right now, the machines are parked in a garage in Canada's Resolute Bay while the the team rests up with family back home. They plan to continue their trek to back across the Bering Straight to Russia. If successful, the team may eventually offer a version of their buses for commercial sale.
