Small dent in front fender, not noticeable unless looking for it (see pix). Superficial blemish/scratch on front of hood, but no dent in hood (see pix). good tread on front tires, great tread on rear tires. Driver's front tire somewhat worn on outside edge. One rear door speaker works, but could be replaced if you are an audiophile. Some wear of chrome bumpers. Please note that the ABS and Check Engine lights are on. I have driven the truck with the Check Engine light on for the past 3 years. The ABS light came on after its last major servicing 1.5 yrs ago, again no issues with drivability or function. I believe the Check Engine/ABS lights are from bad sensors. Vehicle is being sold "as is" with no implied guarantee or warranty."

Although it isn't perfect (it has 161K miles), this is a very reliable 1996 4Runner.  Runs well.  I have owned it for 10 years.  Mostly garage-kept.  Newer windshield without any cracks, and minimal chip marks.  Great sounding, upgraded Alpine stereo with iPod hook-up in glove compartment, after-market upgraded speakers throughout, amplifier and subwoofer. One rear-door speaker could be replaced, but still works.  Air conditioning, 4x4, sunroof, all in working order.  Sunroof wind deflector.  4 Blizzak snow tires with good tread on front tires, great tread on rear tires.  Driver's front tire somewhat worn on outside edge.  I drove it from Colorado Springs to Durango and back last summer (6 hr drive each way), with no issues.  This 4Runner was supposed to be for my son when he started driving, but he has decided he is not interested in learning to drive right now.  I did all the appropriate servicing so that my son would have a reliable vehicle that ran well, so feel comfortable that this 4Runner is in good working/running condition.  I reserve the right to withdraw this item from auction if it is sold locally.

Toyota to offer sedan version of GT 86?

Fri, 11 Oct 2013

Sources in Australia are reporting that we'll be seeing a small, rear-drive sedan from Toyota, based on the GT 86/Scion FR-S. Yes, a convertible variant is still in limbo, but a four-door sedan is in the works. It's unclear if the rumored GT 86 sedan would spawn Scion and Subaru variants (it's hard to cross all ten fingers while you type, but we're having a go).
Working with remarks made by the car's chief engineer Tetsuya Tada in his blog and a rendering from Japanese magazine Holiday Auto, the Australian site Motoring is claiming that the new model's wheelbase will grow about four inches over the current GT 86's 101.2-inch wheelbase.
Besides the larger overall space between the axles, the sedan will offer a more potent engine option over the current 2.0-liter, flat-four. Promising 268 horsepower, which is a big jump over the current car's 200 ponies, the new powertrain will be derived from the Hybrid R setup, shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. If, like us, you're reaching for the salt, and we don't blame you.

A few pre-race notes and a lot of photos from the 24 Hours of Le Mans

Sat, 14 Jun 2014

The 82nd running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is on.
Audi has won 12 of the last 15 events, the scion of Auto Union is trying to make it 13 this year. To do so, it will have to overcome a situation faced only three other times during its dominance of La Sarthe: underdog status. Toyota has won the first two races of the year and claimed pole for this race, the rumor being that this year it's Toyota's race to lose.
And then there's Porsche. It's been 16 years since the Stuttgart brand raced on the top rung at Le Mans, three years years since it announced its return, just a year since it acquired Mark Webber in a signing that wasn't subtle and a few months since we got eyes on the 919 Hybrid.

Fuel cells will flop outside Japan, says VW

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

"It may fly within Japan, but not globally," VW's Shoji said.
It's long been battered into our beleaguered auto writer brains that the ultimate future source of motivation for tomorrow's cars and trucks is not gasoline, diesel, electricity, natural gas, propane or solar power - it's the hydrogen fuel cell. It's been the Next Big Thing since the start of Next Big Things.
