This is a fixer-upper kind of vehicle. It's in an admittedly sorry state, but I don't have the time or the excess money to fix it up for myself. That said, it's a great, reliable car and I hate to see it go. It needs brake work done, it needs the fluids drained and replaced, a new battery, it needs new tires, and probably a general "once over" done professionally. Repairs needed to make this thing shiny and running again will probably run close to $2k. With those repairs done this car will have a value that is something like $5-8k (Kelly Blue Book).
I also have no way to transport this vehicle elsewhere on my own, so that is on the buyer as well. All of these factors amount to my asking price. Reasonable offers will be considered, so feel free to submit them! |

Scion FR-S pitted against oldtimers RX-8 and S2000
Tue, 07 May 2013There are very few vehicles available today that compare directly with the Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ twins. A case could be made for the Mazda MX-5 Miata, and possibly even six-cylinder versions of American coupes like the Ford Mustang. Pretty much everything else is either too expensive or is powered by the wrong set of wheels.
The boys from EverydayDriver on YouTube decided the only fair way to judge the inherent qualities of the Toyobaru twins was to pit them against two standard-bearers of years past: The Honda S2000 and Mazda RX-8. Neither of these cars is an exact matchup, with the Honda boasting a convertible top and the RX-8 offering more practicality via a rear seat and two reverse-opening doors for easier access. What they do offer, however, are similar performance stats and proven reputations for excellent handling.

Scion trying to build business case for FR-S convertible as Subaru bows out
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Hope may remain for a convertible version of the Scion FR-S, according to a report from Ward's Auto. You'll recall that rumors were swirling about the feasibility of a rear-drive Toyobaru convertible as early as October, and that back in November, Subaru - which makes the FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86 - essentially nixed the idea of an open-topped variant.
"We make the car, so if we don't make it, it can't happen," brand chief Yasuyuki Yoshinaga told Automotive News, according to Ward's, at the Tokyo Motor Show. "Our engineering department told me that losing the entire roof requires a complete redesign of the structure. It would need a big change."
Despite Yoshinaga-san's arguments against a droptop variant, Toyota is apparently still considering the model. Speaking to media at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, Scion's US vice president, Doug Murtha, hinted that the rear-drive droptop was in the works.

Almost all of the details about the Toyota New Group Architecture (TNGA) strategy have come out since the initiative was first reported on in March of this year, but Autoblog did learn a few new things about it on a recent trip to Japan. Probably the second-most important detail is that each new segment platform will be based around a common hip point to create an "optimal driving position architecture."
