FOR AUCTION IS MY BEAUTIFUL BLUE 1993 SAAB 900S CONVERTIBLE 16VALVES IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THIS IS THE LAST SAAB 900S MADE ENTIRELY BY SAAB SCANDINAVIA PRIOR TO GM TAKING OVER. CAR RUNS AND DRIVES BUT WILL NEED, PER MY MECHANIC, CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REPLACEMENT TO BE A DAILY DRIVER. I BOUGHT THE CAR SOME TIME IN JANUARY WITH THE INTENTION OF FIXING IT AND USE IT AS MY DAILY DRIVER, BUT MY PRIORITIES HAVE CHANGED IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS OR SO AND WON'T HAVE THE TIME TO DO IT ANYMORE. PREVIOUS OWNER HAD IT PARKED FOR SOME YEARS IN HIS GARAGE DUE TO A FUEL PROBLEM AS HE STATED. THIS SAAB IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. BLUE PAINT STILL SHINES AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION, NOT FADING, NO CHIPS, OR DENTS OF ANY KIND (GARAGE KEPT). THE TOP IS ALSO IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO BLEMISHES OR TEAR. INTERIOR IS GREAT AS WELL, MY MECHANIC ONLY REMOVED THE MIDDLE PLASTIC CONSOLE PIECE TO CHECK SOMETHING RELATED TO THE IGNITION, BUT IT WILL BE PUT BACK BEFORE SELLING IT. Vampire Weekend burns for Saab

Could Vampire Weekend be trying to tell me something? A just-launched music video for the indie rock band's new single Diane Young features what looks like a pretty mint black Saab 900 Turbo Convertible being torched in slow-motion. In fact, with the exception of a brief, flickering cameo by a 900 three-door of a similar vintage, that's all that there is to the nearly three-minute long video. It's both sad and oddly beautiful.
Coincidentally, I have a similar-looking turbocharged black Saab convertible sitting in my garage, and I've been reluctantly pondering its sale this very week. Admittedly, mine is a later model (2001 9-3 Viggen), but tri-spokes and more tapered rump aside, it looks eerily identical. And while mine isn't mired in flames (I love it too much to torch it), through no fault of its own, it's been sitting motionless far too regularly. Thankfully, I see a better future for it than the droptop seen above.
Saab 900 SPG is the latest Petrolicious love story

Produced from 1978 to 1998, the 900 enjoyed a long history, and thanks to its iconic look, it's quickly becoming a modern classic for the off-kilter car enthusiast. The SPG, short for Special Performance Group, makes this a particularly rare find, with owner Jordan Melville saying, "I didn't even realize what I had at the time."
Melville gives a rundown of his life with the 900 and his passion for Saab overall, even reflecting on that dark day that saw the Swedish brand closed its doors. Mahindra eying stake in Saab owner NEVS?
Tue, 17 Jun 2014It's ironic that Saab's current vehicle architecture is called the Phoenix platform, because like the mythological bird, the company keeps returning from the ashes. That's right, the embattled Swedish automaker isn't completely dead yet. Again. Actually, it may be facing yet another buyout, and this time, the buyer may be from India.
Less than a month ago, the situation looked ominous for Saab. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the carmaker's current owner, temporarily shut down 9-3 production at its Trollhättan factory not long after restarting it in the first place. According to Just Auto, it laid off about 100 consultants allegedly linked to problems making June payroll, as well. At the time, Saab claimed that the measures were temporary, and it was negotiating selling part ownership to another automaker.
Those assertions might have some truth behind them, it seems. Indian newspaper The Economic Times reports that Mahindra & Mahindra and an unnamed Asian automaker are negotiating with NEVS to purchase part of the company. It claims that the Indian automaker sees Saab as an opportunity to add a premium brand to its business.
