This is the 790th 914 to roll off the line in 1969! Original paint coat: BLACK! This car has lots of history and is one of the first thousand off the line...unfortunately, it has some rust to tell the story. This car looks great from 15 feet away, but has had some shoddy over-sprays and repairs to the paint job. Apart from the body rust that has been patched, there is a rotten section of the longitudinal that makes the car structurally somewhat questionable. Eventually it will need a new long, and most likely rear wheel well as the metal is rusted through badly. The car will sometimes make a creaking noise when changing camber (driveway)...unpleasant...Despite this, the car seems to handle and drive very well and is super peppy. It will burn its wheels with almost no effort...Essentially, the engine in this is GREAT! Interior is in amazing condition, and everything pretty much works all around.

I have had it evaluated by a body shop and they told me it is drivable, but to keep an eye on the door gap.

This engine is an EC Case Rebuild to 2056cc by Mark Stephens (non-matching #'s), and is quick with the 44's. Has ~6k miles on it (post rebuild) according to the PO. I have put on <1k miles. Happy to answer any questions.

I am selling the car because I will be traveling later this year and cannot rationalize the storage costs.

The Good:

Rebuilt 2056cc Motor by Mark Stephens in Denver 96mm Heads, Weber Racing Cam and Weber 44IDF Carbs...911 Valve screws (From PO)

....that have been blasted, rebuilt, re-gasketed and jetted and tuned to altitude (by Carquip).

Upgraded later model side-shift 5-speed transmission!

Upgraded Adjustable Passenger Seat!

Custom Upgraded Gauge Cluster with Oil Pressure/Temp/Fuel and 911 Speedometer!

Newly Reupholstered Seats and a very clean original black basket-weave interior!

Awesome custom sound-system with subwoofer built into console!

Original "Gas Burner" Mahle Rims (Most Lightweight 914 Rims ever).

Euro Head and Tail Lights!

Original Great condition Chrome Bumpers with original Hella Fog Lights!

New Carpet Set!

The Bad:

Paint is failing all over the car. DAPO repeatedly patched up spots on the car with bondo and sprayed over...paint was matched to Irish Green. It is a quck paint and its not great...

Pass side longitudinal and jackpoint has BAD RUST, and hell holes are rusted a bit as well.

Synchro's in 1st and second may need some attention

The Deal: This a very cool example of an early 914 with a very fast engine....it has been used as a daily driver and has a strong motor but could use some TLC in terms of body work and rust.

Car also comes with a 914 car bra, a dust cover, Haynes manual and some random odds and ends.

2014 Porsche Panamera Turbo S is a 911 Turbo for the family man

Thu, 21 Nov 2013

In the event that the Porsche Panamera Turbo's 520 horsepower and 189-mile-per-hour top speed aren't enough to sate the appetite of the speed freak, Porsche has just given the auto show debut to the faster, more powerful Panamera Turbo S.
With 570 horsepower being pumped from a 4.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8, the Panamera Turbo S promises even faster acceleration, hitting 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, a 0.3-second improvement over the standard Turbo. The top speed, meanwhile, climbs to 192 mph, which is kind of ridiculous for a car with four doors and a trunk.
Other enhancements that come with this Panamera's extra syllable include carbon-ceramic brakes and the entirety of Porsche's active chassis systems, including Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control and Porsche Active Suspension Management. The performance goodies come standard, but that doesn't mean the Panamera Turbo S is cheap.

Porsche planning new 911 Speedster as 550 tribute

Tue, 12 Nov 2013

Some look at the emergence of a new Porsche 911 and see a car. But to Porsche engineers, it might as well be a reset button. Because every time a new 911 comes out, it sets off a tidal wave of new variants to follow, including convertibles, turbos, targas, GT3s... the works.
The next down the pipeline, though, could be one of the most desirable. That, according to German publication Auto Bild, will be a new 911 Speedster. When it arrives early in 2015, the special roadster will reportedly be limited to just 550 examples in tribute to the original 550 Spyder.
It'll reportedly have hidden door handles, a chopped-down windshield and a fabric top to be used only in case of emergency, manually disappearing below a carbon-fiber cowling. All of which makes it sounds as much like a bigger version of the Boxster Spyder as a successor to the last 911 Speedster (pictured above), and that's no bad thing at all.

Petrolicious details why the Porsche 911 is something special

Thu, 26 Sep 2013

The Porsche 911 is a special car, if for no other reasons than it's been continuously produced since 1964, with nearly every generation regarded as being at or near the top of its class. But why the rear-engined icon has done so well among enthusiasts and regular drivers alike can't always be explained easily. To truly understand the 911, you have to experience the whole package, and that means driving one.
While just about every publication has raved about the Porsche, commercial director, race driver, photographer and 911 owner Jeff Zwart explains to Petrolicious why he was drawn to the legend as a young child, and why he still loves them today.
Zwart's professional and personal life are inextricably linked to the 911, and hearing him talk about the car and its history makes for fascinating viewing. Watch the video below to hear Zwart's story and see him drive a couple examples from his collection: an early 911 and the 964-generation Carrera 4 he won Pikes Peak with for the first time - a car that happens to be equipped with the 959 Paris-Dakar's fascinating torque-split transmission. Enjoy!
