SIX-CYLINDER WITH A 5 SPEED MANUEL GEARBOX AND AIR- COOLED, MECHANICAL FUEL-INJECTION
ENGINE WITH ORIGINAL 181,000 MILES IS A SPECIAL CAR AND FUN TO DRIVE.
THIS WAS THE FIRST YEAR PORSCHE MADE THIS 911SC CABRIOLET (CONVERTIBLE) AND IS A RARE SURVIVOR WITH ITS ORIGINAL COLOR RUBY RED METALLIC PAINT (COLOR CODE 810 9 4) BUT WAS REPAINTED IN THE SAME COLOR SOME YEARS BACK. IN THE PICTURES THERE IS A SMALL 2" SCRATCH ON LOWER FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FENDER. BODY AND PAINT IS IN NICE CONDITION AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURES WITH THE REAR LARGE CALIFORNIA BUMPER PADS REMOVED BUT WILL COME WITH THE CAR AND HARDWARE FOR REMOUNTING IF YOU CHOOSE. THE TOP IS VERY NICE AND MAY BE ORIGINAL BUT HAS PROBABLY BEEN REPLACED AT SOME JUNCTURE.. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY REGISTERED IN CALIFORNIA AND HAS CURRENT INSPECTION STICKER. Will Roegge makes 4K art of Jeff Zwart's 911 build and run up Pikes Peak
Sun, 17 Aug 2014Will Roegge has turned his camera on Jeff Zwart and provided another gem, this time documenting Zwart's run up Pikes Peak and BBI Autosport. Bertim Besha dropped out of high school, then worked his way up to founding his own shop, BBI, that gathers a crew of tuners who are just as fastidious about their work as the customers are about their cars.
They prepped the 991-series Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Turbo, the product of combining a 911 GT2 that was the most powerful car Zwart drove up the mountain with a GT3 Cup that Zwart thought had the best handling. Two TiAL turbos and a lot of fettling make for a 3.8-liter flat-six with 700 horsepower, 700 pound-feet of torque and a 7,800-rpm redline. Zwart drove it to a heartbreaking second place this year, finishing less than 1.2 seconds behind the Time Attack 1 class winner when his car suffered its first mechanical issue of the week.

The partners in the on-screen tango are the 275-horsepower base Cayman and the 325-hp Cayman S. If you like to keep track of such things, the former starts at $52,600, the latter at $63,800, plus $950 destination for each. Watching a video like the one below, however, is free.
Porsche 991 vs. 930 Flatnose in 911 Turbo convertible faceoff

With a ton of power set right over the rear wheels, its reputation is to lose control as soon as the driver stops concentrating. However, this isn't quite so true anymore. The modern ones are tamed through technology with things like hydraulically controlled engine mounts, not to mention all-wheel drive. In its latest video, Autocar tries to decide whether 25 years of progress really makes the turbo a better vehicle.
It's summer, so what better version to compare than the 911 Turbo Cabriolet? In one corner, Autocar has the latest and greatest 2014 version pumping out 513 horsepower and 486 pound-feet of torque with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Its challenger is a 1989 911 flatnose convertible sporting 326 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. It's a truly rare car in the UK with only eight of them remaining on the roads in that region.
Granted, this test isn't so much a battle as it is a comparison. There's no question that the modern 911 would beat the classic in practically every objective category.
