PHS documented 1978 Y88 Trans Am

This is a 1978 Y88 Trans Am, also known as a Gold Special Edition. The Y88 is the rarest of the special editions. Only 12,000 were produced and only in 1978. This car still has the gold tinted t tops which were specific to this vehicle. The car was produced with custom air conditioning, custom color keyed seat belts, soft ray glass, lamp group, power windows, radio accommodation package, tilt steering wheel, lombardy cloth seats and the rare Y88 package.

  • Brand new fuel sending unit
  • Boiled out gas tank
  • New fuel pump
  • New fuel filter
  • New Delco 78 series battery
  • New American auto wire battery cables
  • New battery tray
  • New hood release

The vehicle did receive a color change at one point and will easily be restored back to original. The engine is a Pontiac 350 with a turbo 350 transmission.

Bonus:

There are several parts that are also included in this auction. In the pictures are a nice nose and passenger front fender(these have been installed). Also included are a set of 15 X 7 snow flake wheels, another drivers side front flare, flare welting, new window scrapers, headliner material, tan arm rest rear panels and sail panels, an original Gold Special Edition steering wheel with gold spokes, new shifter plate, plastic air cleaner transition piece, factory ratchet shifter and tan console. The odometer says 54,971.4 however the Arizona title indicates that the mileage is not correct so I would imagine the correct mileage may be 154,971.4. The vehicle has some common rust spots that are shown in the pictures. The areas are on the passenger side only. The rear quarter and front a small hole in the door jam and lower corners of the door. There is a front fender that will get rid of the rust in the bottom of the front fender on the car. There are two areas in the trunk floor with small holes about 5 inches in diameter in the trunk and one area in the floor in the rear passenger floor area caused by the t tops leaking at some time over the last 36 years. The tachometer and oil pressure gauge do not work. It seems like there was a hurried stereo removal and the wrong wires were cut. I have included a picture of an original Y88 to show what the car looked like when new.

eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile

Sun, 29 Apr 2012

Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.

GM repairing 40,500 Pontiac Vibes as part of Toyota airbag recall

Wed, 09 Apr 2014

General Motors has confirmed to Autoblog that the Pontiac Vibe is included in Toyota's just-announced recall action. The Vibe and the Toyota Matrix share a large number of parts, including the affected cable to the airbag.
"About 40,500 Pontiac Vibes from the 2009-2010 model years are included in the Toyota recall. Toyota designed and engineered the Vibe for Pontiac. GM will service customers with these vehicles when Toyota makes the parts available," said GM recall spokesperson Alan Adler to Autoblog in an email.
The recall covers 1.3 million Toyota units in the US, including 2009-2010 Corolla, Matrix and Tacoma, the 2008-2010 Highlander, the 2006-2008 Rav4 and 2006-2010 Yaris, plus the addition of the 2009-2010 Vibe. The models all have their airbag module attached via a spiral electrical cable. The connections on this cable can be damaged when turning the steering wheel. Once broken, the airbag deactivates and the airbag warning light comes on. Toyota has an improved part, but it's still making preparations to begin repairs. It will begin notifying owners soon.

Howard Stern latest in Seinfeld's passenger seat for CiCGC

Thu, 06 Feb 2014

We'll be honest: the actual cars in Jerry Seinfeld's hit internet series, Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee, typically take a back seat to the celebrities in the front row. Seinfeld usually throws in a few lines about his classic wheels in the first minute or so, and then moves on to the important business of sprightly conversation and pithy one-liners. It's great.
This time around, with legendary motormouth Howard Stern riding shotgun, the 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge that might have been a co-star, gets forgotten about almost completely. Instead, Stern spends a tremendous amount of screen time extolling the virtues of his therapy sessions, attempts to dive into Seinfeld's prowess as a lover and generally makes a nuisance of himself. Pretty much to plan, then.
Scroll below to hear Howard accuse Jerry of acting like Jesus, just before declaring himself the greatest radio personality in the history of the business.
