***1979 Pontiac Trans Am 10th Anniversary 400/4 speed***

In 1979 Pontiac came upon the 10th anniversary of its beloved Trans Am. Amid all the hype received from the infamous Bandit movie Pontiac decided to herald the milestone with a special anniversary package.  In 1978 the end of the 400 was near and a few were held back for the special edition anniversary trans am coming up in the following model year. This short run of just 7500 special edition 10th Anniversary Trans Ams was the bench mark of the highest selling model year of the TA ever.  The buyer got a choice of the Olds 403 with the automatic transmission but the only way to get one of the last 400s in your special edition was with the Super T-10 four speed. Of those 7500 cars 5,683 were Olds/auto cars and just 1,817 had the True Pontiac motor the 400 backed by the manual transmisson.

This particular car is very good starting platform for a great driver or a blue chip investment piece.  It has its original 400 motor four speed and all the goodies that came

with this special package. It is solid in all the places that matter and very fixable to a true muscle car enthusiast with some passion and talent never hurt!

This is a nice rare car that is deserving of a complete restoration. It is from a one-owner family and was always garaged.

The car is very complete! The car retains all its 10th anniversary specific hardware like the mirrored t-tops, the specific turbine shined aluminum wheels, the silver leather interior,

which will need recovering, the red gauges and all the spoilers and badging. All of the original glass is there except windshield,  The driveline is complete and all intact. The original 400

the original four speed and the disc-brake posi rear end are all there and in original order. Motor is said to have been rebuilt by previous owner and was pulled in garage under own power

a couple of years ago.

*I am a car guy and i appreciate honesty and representing a car fairly so this is a brief overview of the car as i see it and from my background with F-bodys.*

This car is very structurally sound however it does have a some rust in the common F-body areas that will need addressing. First off it will need some floor work particularly

under the drivers seat and near the drivers toe where the seam sealer has caused some rot.  Also there is a little rust in the trunk where the mat between the gas tank and

trunk floor held moisture and caused some small holes and scaling. It will need a radiator support.  Only other little bit of rust is in the corners on top side of the cowl vent

panel. The bottoms of the fenders and doors will need some attention too. Other than that the car seems really solid... the rockers are perfect still being able to

clearly see the spot welds all the way down them. The quarters are surprisingly nice and very solid as well... even the trunk extension and the bottoms are very nice and

easily saved. Car will make a jam-up ride with just a little work and foresight and some talent not to mention it always be fun to drive and worth some good money.

*If you have any more questions and are seriously interested please message or call directly for more detailed answers to anything about the car.  (828) 289-3204 -Dale

Need any specifics or pics not shown please contact me and i will quickly assist you.  Call for the quickest response and I do not get text messages. No Text.

I bought the car because im a pontiac guru and you never see a 4 speed anniversary car. I simply have to many projects and am losing my storage so cars need n homes!

**Also have a 10th anniversary olds/auto car that is was gutted except for drivetrain but has exceptional OE metal for a very reasonable price or included if this car does $5k.

So, You could be the privileged new owner of 2 10th Anniversary cars... now thats something any wife would love to see coming home!!    #poncho

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?

DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
