1987 Pontiac Trans-Am GTA with 16k actual documented miles! This car is 100% factory original with the exception of the battery, and the A/C has been upgraded to a more modern R134 refrigerant system. Even the tires are original to the car! To describe this Trans-Am as "like new" would not be an overstatement. Although the car has not been registered for road use since 2002, it has in recent weeks undergone a major service to insure its road worthiness and quality. The vehicle does sell with over $2000 in receipts from the past few weeks documenting the work that has been performed to keep the car operating like new without sacrificing its originality. The body and interior are in factory fresh condition, with no major defects to report. All fluids, including fuel, have been flushed and replaced, and the vehicle was never started or attempted to drive with any old fluids. The stereo was upgraded some years ago, however, all original component still travel with the car and can easily be re-installed if the new owner chooses.

This GTA was purchased new by a Chicago area man who drove the car seasonally for a couple of years before gifting it to his daughter and her husband on their wedding day. When the couple had their first child the car was put into storage and kept well maintained, albeit rarely driven. As a result, there is absolutely no corrosion to speak of anywhere on the vehicle, and everything on the car is in perfect working order. This Trans-Am could be driven daily with only a change of tires, or kept in a collection to be admired for many years to come.

I have seen a fair number of low mile F-body's over the years, but none that can boast this level of originality. Please bid with confidence knowing that you are buying, what is effectively, a brand new 1987 GTA in 2013! Feel free to contact Joe by e-mail or at (847) 417-0702 with ANY questions or concerns. I am confident that a cleaner, lower mile example does not exist. Thank you very much for your interest, and happy bidding!

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
