Knight Rider    KITT    KARR

This auction is for an 86 Trans Am converted into a Knight Rider car.  This is not a screen accurate replica, but it is a very nice ride done well enough that most people at the shows don't know the difference.  It is not done so well that you would be afraid to drive it regularly and I am also not asking for $30K-$60K.

DRIVETRAIN:

RBLT 383 stroker motor- This was done by the previous owner and the engine was originally built for a mud truck.  The cam has a little thump to it but is mild enough to drive the car in traffic.  Has a LOT of low end torque.

RBLT 700r w/shift kit- Again, this was done by the previous owner, but it shifts firm and just feels real nice.

REAR- Stock posi rear and untouched as far as I know.

INTERIOR:

Tan interior from an 89 GTA.  The DS seat is decent, but the PS seat is ripped up pretty bad.  The headliner shows its age, but it is intact and up where it belongs.  Carpet could use a cleaning, but no holes.

BODY:

This car started out with a straight, solid body.  The pictures of the car in red are what it looked like with its factory paint before being repainted black.  No rust repair had to be done at all.

KNIGHT RIDER FEATURES:

Season 3-4 nose- I was told it was a Mark's Custom Kits nose, but I don't think so.  There were no markings anywhere.

Season 3-4 dash- The dash and electronics are from Mark's Custom Kits.

Scanner- I was told that this is a Mark's Custom Kits unit as well, but cannot confirm that.  In any case, it works perfectly and has an adjustment for speed on it.

Wheels- Correct Turbo Cast wheels with correct, factory, bowling ball hubcaps, NOT repops.  Tires are good with a lot of tread.

SHIPPING:

Shipping is the buyer's responsibility.  The car can be stored in a garage until February, after that it will be parked outside.  The car must be picked up by the end of February.  If you need more time than that, please contact me before bidding to make arrangements.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge vs. 2006 GTO, which Goat gets your vote?

The Pontiac GTO was perhaps the most iconic muscle car of the '60s and early '70s. With its beefy V8 and color palette screaming for attention, it summarized in a single vehicle everything that made the era so appealing to many young people. Pontiac tried to collect just a few drops of that aura again in the 2000s with a revived GTO, but with decidedly mixed results. The performance was still there with its big V8, but the looks never quite lived up to the powertrain. Now, Generation Gap wants to know which of these Goats is the one to own.
Things are skewed immediately because the 2006 GTO here is a real ringer. It comes from famous tuner Ken Lingenfelter's collection, and it's a one-off example partially fettled by GM Performance boasting a twin-turbocharged LS2 V8 with a claimed 750 horsepower and a wide-body kit. This Goat definitely isn't what you're going to find just browsing for one to buy in the newspaper. Still, dip the throttle just a little, and this GTO pulls like a freight train. It's enough to turn the two hosts into giggling schoolboys behind the wheel.
The '69 GTO Judge here is also out of Lingenfelter's collection, but this one is all stock with a 400-cubic-inch (6.6-liter) V8 and a Ram Air hood for a claimed 366 hp. It might not have the unbelievable power of the turbo '06, but it makes up for it with style to spare.

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown

Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models.
