1985 Pontiac Firebird Trans am KNIGHT RIDER replica.

replica of the famous talking car K.I.T.T. from the t.v series Knight Rider.

this car has had a full restoration done ! it was completely stripped down to the shell and was media blasted down to bare metal inside and out,  then coated in epoxy primer.

was then painted, wet sanded and polished to a mirror finish ,  the underside and engine bay are painted/detailed also.   absolutely no rust anywhere.

all new weather stripping throughout the entire car.

has a fully rebuilt 350 chevy small block engine with zero mileage that features an edelbrock aluminum intake, performance cam, 600 cfm 4 barrel carb with vacuum secondary,

MSD street fire distributor/coil/wires,  engine also has many chromed accessories.   should make a healthy unexaggerated 300 HP on the dyno.

automatic transmission is a fully rebuilt 700r4 with shift kit , rear axle is a borg warner 9 bolt posi with 3.70 gears and disc brakes.

new exhaust system with headers.

reconditioned tan interior with reupholstered PMD seats.

15” turbo cast wheels and caps with BF Goodrich tires.

all the knight rider fiberglass parts such as the 2 tv dash, pod unit, gullwing,  upper and lower consoles as well as the front bumper are from a well known supplier in Canada “Ontario Fiberglass Production (Joe Penko)” who is also becoming quite popular in the hobby in the U.S and overseas.

they are thick accurate well made quality parts….not the flimsy funky junk you find elsewhere cheaply.

the main dash electronics are made by IDEEGENIALI  and are of top quality,  i have installed many sets of electronics from all venders and these ones impressed me the most !

all gauges are functional such as speed, rpm, fuel, oil, temp.

has 2 lcd monitors with dvd, front and rear cameras.

upper console has various tones sounds when buttons are pressed.   lower console buttons control various things throughout the car.   all the pod buttons have either a sound effect or function.

all interior fiberglass parts are also professionally painted with satin urethane automotive grade paint and is tough and durable,  not cheap rattle can spray jobs like some cars out there.

front scanner is fully remote controlled, with various scan speeds and patterns.

many extra features have been added to this replica to make it seem more real.

pod buttons with actual sound effects from the show,  press turbo boost and it actually plays the correct sound clip.

one of the pod buttons will shoot a laser beam out from the front scanner thats highly visible at night.

there is also a mini remote to turn the dash on/off,  raise and lower both driver/passenger windows.. pop the rear hatch and trigger sound clips on the external speaker such as scanner sounds/ turbine sounds and a few k.i.t.t voice phrases from the show.   so u can really amaze people at car shows/events.

kitts voice box on the dash is wired to the car stereo and will move along to whatever is playing through it,   the stereo features an aux in that allows you to plug in your cell phone so you can run the audio from the K.i.T.T. app available on iPhone/android phones that allows you to speak and have him respond and the voice box lights will move to his voice.

a lot of time and money has been invested into this build, you will not find another like it.

Aficionauto sits down with The Hoff and KITT

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

The latest video from The Aficionauto is the perfect palate cleanser for Knight Rider fans after finding out that Justin Bieber is the voice of KITT in an upcoming film. Host Christopher Rutkowski says that the Knight Industries Two Thousand is one of the most requested vehicles to appear on the series and for good reason - Michael Knight's Pontiac Trans-Am is among the most famous cars to ever appear on television.
While the video isn't able to showcase one of the original KITTs from the series, it does get star David Hasselhoff to drive his personal replica and talk about the lasting legacy of the show. The highlight here might be seeing The Hoff back behind the wheel in the open desert basically recreating Knight Rider's opening sequence.
With all of its flashing lights and gizmos, you can probably make the argument that KITT is pretty cheesy, and the show itself was never exactly a pillar of high-quality drama on television. Despite that, the series still provides a ton of good-natured fun, and The Hoff's continued enthusiasm for it is pretty infectious. Check out The Aficionauto video to take another ride with Knight Rider.

GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners

Fri, 28 Oct 2011

This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
