1984 Pontiac Trans Am Custom on 2040-cars

US $8,500.00
Year:1984 Mileage:138000
Location:

Encino, California, United States

This is a completely custom 1984 Pontiac Trans Am. It has a 1977 Chevy 350 (corvette motor) freshly rebuilt (less than 1000 miles), 4 bolt main, steel crank, 7 qt oil pan, new oil pump, mild cam, roller rockers, new water pump, new power steering pump, new fuel pump, all new gaskets, belts and hoses, new edelbrock intake, edelbrock 650 carb, new power steering box (close ratio), new spark plugs and wires, new shocks, new struts, 4 wheel disc brakes, hooker headers (long tube), new 3 inch flow master cutback exhaust, new 18 inch BOSS staggered wheels, new Hankook tires, new carpet, new headliner, new shift boot, new T-Top weatherstripping.

It has a Tremec 5 Speed with hurst shifter and a 9" rear end. (not sure what gears). New differential gasket.
Seats are original in good condition. Gauges all work. Speedometer has new gears, but due to wheel package is almost 10mph off. (If you're going 50, it says you're going 60).

Now... here's what it needs:
PAINT and BODY (the car looks fine from 5 feet away... but not great up close. There are many imperfections.)
Also... it could use new bushings in the suspension (all the way around). It needs door jam brush/weatherstripping.

NOTE:  The paint on the car looks waaaay better in these pictures than it does in person.  The car photographs well after being detailed... but the paint is not good... and the decals are very faded now.

BIG NOTE... If you live in CA, I will have the car smogged for you which will last 2 years... however, it will not pass smog after.
Everywhere else... the car will be fine considering it is over 25 years old and considered a classic.

Please email me with any questions you may have.

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.
