I have wanted one of these cars since I was a little kid and saw "Smokey and the Bandit". This is not a trailer queen, it has a few chips here and there. My kids and I take it to car shows and drive it like it was meant to be. It will get sideways in a hurry but with all the suspension mods, it really hugs the road. 1979 Pontiac Trans Am Special Edition WS6 Y84 T-TOP Original window sticker, wheels, and most other parts. Huge pile of receipts....... I bought this car in an unrestored very good condition and restored it over the last 7 years with my kids. I have kept all the original parts. It has Global West and Hotchkis suspension parts, frame connectors, 3.42 posi rear, new gas tank, original seat covers and dash. I had a 1969 428 4 bolt engine built by Butler Performance in TN (525HP / 550TQ) with all forged internals and mated to a TCI trans. We fixed all the rust in the t-tops, body, and undercarriage. Hate to see this go but circumstances force sale. Let me know if you have any questions, I will be posting more and more as it comes to mind. Window Sticker Options: (I looked for this car for almost two years before purchasing. I think it was the most highly optioned one I came across.) Body Side Molding 428 ENGINE PARTS: Ross Pistons 4.181 x 1.295 (2.5" x .990" Pin) 428 Grams! Custom Stereo: (I wanted a factory looking system, but one that would blow your doors off) I mounted a dual Pioneer speaker under the front dash, two 6x9's in the rear using the original speaker covers, custom built a subwoofer so the T-Tops would still fit in the trunk. Used a Kicker 5 channel amp to push the whole thing. Keeping the factory radio (installed but not hooked up) really adds to the charm. Besides, who wants to cut the dash? That was one of the first things I looked for when I was buying it and would not do it because you can not get that originality back. OTHER FEATURES: Solid Body Mount Kit PARTS ON ORIGINAL 403 ENGINE: Pontiac #5 heads STILL TO DO: Heater Core ORIGINAL AND EXTRA PARTS: Tons... Thanks for taking the time to look at this, if this trans am is not what your looking for, I also have a restored #'s matching 1970 Challenger T/A 340 Six Pack, Sublime with Black Interior for sale. My two favorite cars. |

GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported
Thu, 13 Feb 2014General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.
GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way
Tue, 21 Feb 2012There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
