1979 Pontiac Trans Am T-tops Auto V8 403 4bbl Silver Anniversary Nice Car on 2040-cars
Wexford, Pennsylvania, United States
Private collector (although has a dealer license...out of his collection) offering a very nice, straight 1979 Pontiac TransAm Silver Anniversary. This car is PA inspection through 9/14 which covers brakes, tires, exhaust, etc. She is road ready. Starts right up and you know the sound / growl that comes from her. Everything works, runs and drives 100%. True mileage unknown and can't confirm #'s matching but believe she is. Receipts for a total motor rebuild for $3k plus. The paint on this car is nice but show some wear up close. The bird has some flakes..nothing major, and some of the paint may have faded slightly or been touched up. She is very solid though all things considered. If you seach you can find some normal small rust in the T-Top corners where water lays and other normal things like the gas float sticking. The seller also has a new dash that he is including. I would call this car a proud, strong #3 car that will cruise / show nicely and continue to appreciate in value. Having said that you will find a very solid car with some dull and faded paint in some minor areas and some other minor paint flaws. Again she shows very nicely and you would be proud to cruise on Friday Nights! We woould encourage all or any questions and find out what you need to know BEFORE bidding. Any questions, call Mike 412 260 9906. Thanks!

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
