I have owned this 1979 10th Anniversary edition Trans Am for twelve years and ago two years ago we had it restored from the ground up. I put all new body panels on the car including the truck and hood. The suspension and brakes are completely new. The interior was completely replaced by new GM replacement parts including the seats. I bought a brand new crate 5.7 liter motor along with a four speed automatic transmission. The exhaust is all flow master. I am sure that I am leaving a bunch of thing out so call for more details.

I am going to take my best shot at going into detail as to what was done in the restoration of the 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. First of all this car is a 10th anniversary edition which means that the production was limited to one car for every Pontiac dealer in the country and there were roughly thirty four hundred in 1979.

I have owned this car for over ten years and about two years ago I found the body shop that I wanted to do the complete restoration from the frame up. The car has two new doors, both sets of front and back quarters, a new hood, truck pan, trunk lid, all new glass both inside and out. I replaced every molding and seals on the car. The Arizona sun had destroyed in interior so I opted to gut the entire inside of the car and replaced everything, carpet, headliner, dash, center counsel, seats, door panels, steering wheel, door locks, gas pedal, brake pedal, lighter or accessory that the car had.

General Motors has a speed shop where you can buy just about any drive line they produce so I went with the package deal on the fuel injected 5.7 liter with a four speed automatic transmission and nice new ice cold ac that came with the same 3/36,000 mile warranty they provide when you buy a new GM Vehicle. I also replace the front and rear suspension, the entire brake system including the master cylinder and rotors. The front and rear suspension is new, the exhaust is all flowmaster custom bent to fit the vehicle. The wiring harness is all had custom made for the car using the sensor kits that General Motors requires in order to maintain the factory warranty requirements.

This car was my dream car growing up so I waited to restore it until I had the money to do it the right way and we didn't cut any corners on the frame off restoration. I gave the owner of the shop one goal and it was that the car was to be perfect with no excuses so I invested over $60,000 in this one of a kind 10th anniversary 1979 Pontiac Trans AM.

The pictures on Ebay are all of the same car they are just taken with the stripe kit and without the kit and the wheels are two different sets. The set that comes with the car are the original polished aluminum wheels with brand new tires. The second set of wheels are available if someone is interested. I had these wheels custom built to look like the honey comb wheel but I wanted them to fill up the wheel well giving the car a fatter look so they are eight inches wider then the honey comb wheels and look amazing however the wheels alone cost me 5k not including the tires.

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Check out the official 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition commercial

The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.
