Up for bid is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. The odometer shows 88k which looks to be accurate according to available service receipts. It is driven weekly and is dependable. It runs, drives and shifts good. This Trans Am would make a good restoration candidate or just enjoy using it as a daily/weekend driver. The frame rails look good (see pictures) and the body/trunk looks solid with the exception of the door bottoms. It does have some surface/minor rust (see pictures). The seats and carpet need a redoing and there is a small crack in the dash. The gauges work and the paint is original except for the side spoilers which were touched up. According to the original build sheet (also included) this is a true Solar Gold TA. I am the third owner. Other items to mention:
- 3 speed automatic transmission
- original radio
- power steering
- power brakes
- had A/C originally but was removed - it will be included in the sale
- has new radiator
- snowflake rims with original center caps
This TA runs and drives well and could be driven home a reasonable local distance. However, the tires are older so for longer distances I would recommend shipping. If shipped, I will be happy to hold for a 7-10 period will shipping is arranged. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required at the end of auction with the balance to be paid within 7 days. The Poncho is dead. Long live the Poncho. Like certain other reoccurring personal maladies, the aftermarket community simply can't let the Trans Am go without another flare up. The guys at Trans Am Depot have worked up a quick commercial for their newest creation: The 2013 Trans Am Hurst Edition, and it watches pretty much like you'd expect it to. The footage is comprised of just about every TA male fantasy you can conceive of, from Daisy Dukes and white tank tops to tramp stamps, bikinis and ice cream cones. There simply aren't words for what you'll see below.
Of course, we like our T-Tops as much as the next guy. If you like what you see in the videos, you can pick up your very own TA by heading over to the Trans Am Depot site. The guys even have Chevrolet Camaro-based versions of the Pontiac GTO if the '77 TA treatment is too much for your tastes. Enjoy, but don't say we didn't warn you.

Wed, 15 May 2013When an old car or truck offers its dying breath in your driveway and you just don't have the financial or mechanical wherewithal to resuscitate it yet again, you traditionally have to go to the trouble of calling a flatbed or a tow truck to come haul it away. That usually helps to put a few bucks in your wallet and helps recycle some of the vehicle's parts, but the transaction doesn't seem as final or perversely satisfying as the dispatch service that this New Way Cobra Magnum garbage truck offers.
Okay, okay, so this refuse hauler isn't actually designed for this sort of thing, but it's oddly comforting to know that a sanitation truck can compact a hapless Pontiac Grand Am into oblivion. Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day
Thu, 07 Jun 2012Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
