1962 Pontiac Tempest 3.2l Red on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:34000
Location:

Ventura, California, United States

Ventura, California, United States

This is a true survivor car! I have owned it for about 4 years now after I bought it at auction in Wyoming. The car has 34,000 ACTUAL ORIGINAL MILES! It is in very excellent unrestored condition. NO holes in the dash or subwoofer cutouts or crap like that. This is an incredibly unique classic car with factory:

 INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION

 REAR TRANSAXLE

50/50 WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION!

A truly innovative car for its time!

I will be moving to the Northwest soon and I simply don’t have the time or energy to move it along with our other vehicles, and I really want it to stay in an environment that it can live another 50 years.  I have had no Issues with this car and I have put roughly 11,000 miles on it myself. It really loves the freeway and turns a lot of heads!

WORK I HAVE DONE TO THE CAR:

-New Brakes

-New Shocks

-New Battery

-New Tires

-New Exhaust

-3 stage paint (4 years ago, in fairly good condition)

-1 Wire alternator conversion from original generator setup ( still have the generator)

-Transmission flushed and fluid replaced

-rear differential gear oil replaced

-carburetor rebuilt

-most hoses and lines replaced

-radiator flushed

-oil changed as required

GM issues four new recalls, 2.4 million cars affected

Tue, 20 May 2014

General Motors has announced another set of recalls, covering some 2.42 million cars in the United States. For those keeping track, The General has now recalled over 15 million cars worldwide this year due to various issues.
Here's the breakdown for this most recent set of recalls:
1,339,355 - Buick Enclave, Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia models from the 2009 to 2014 model years; Saturn Outlook models from the 2009 to 2010 model years

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.
