1991 Pontiac Firebird - Trans Am / Gta Model on 2040-cars

US $3,495.00
Year:1991 Mileage:103500
Location:

Prescott, Arizona, United States

Prescott, Arizona, United States

This vehicle was purchased by me in Los Angeles, California from a dealer for $5,000.    I bought it solely because it was in good condition, and had 66K miles on it when I bought it.   It now has about 103,500 +- on it.   It is the GTA model, and I do have the original build code sheet that goes with it.

I have to many projects, and not enough time to finish / restore this one.   It is rust free, having spent most of it's life in Valencia, California and then Arizona after about 2003.

I have replaced the A/C system (blows cold), the heater core (not a fun job), the tires have about 2K miles on them, etc, etc.   New plugs, and all new ignition system parts.  It was misfiring so I thought it was all those parts (about $800 worth), but it was because I didn't put premium fuel in it. I had not driven it in a while, so I did not need fuel.  I put premium in and the miss went away.

In my opinion the vehicle is very straight.  It did get 2 small hail stone nicks on the roof, and cracked the windshield.  I replaced the front window as a result of the hail damage.

The rear spoiler is broken (part came off), and in my opinion the entire interior needs to be replaced.  That will bring it back to where it should be.

The vehicle runs and drives well.  It tracks straight, doesn't pull to either side when you apply the breaks, and starts right up.  It has never overheated on me, and I would describe the overall condition as "good".  Not perfect, as it is a 1991.   If you purchase the car, and once you come and see it, if you don't like it..we will cancel the transaction with Ebay.   I will assist with shipping and might be able to deliver if your not to far away.  I have a clear title in hand, and it comes with a spare set of rims (Trans Am), and lot of small parts I have bought over the years.

I am open to offers, but I just turned down a $2K cash offer (a reseller).   This is being sold for restoration, but can be driven daily.  I have ALWAYS kept it registered and insured.  That should tell you something.  It is not a junker.   If you have any questions, pls. feel free to contact me.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.   P.S. comes with a new car cover.

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

How to turn a Pontiac Fiero into a trackday car

Fri, 17 Oct 2014

Imagine hitting the track in a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe that's affordable and has pretty good parts availability. It might sound like a pipe dream, but it's actually quite possible, if you're willing to think a little outside the box. The Pontiac Fiero is out there just waiting for a little work to turn it into a competent racing machine.
Think about it for a second. Of course, we would all like to be snaking through the curves in something exotic, but what happens when you crash or something breaks? The bills are going to mount up quickly. However, if you ball up a Fiero at the track, as long as you're not hurt, then it's not a huge tragedy.
That's basically the story of Steven Snyder in a new video from Drive starring Matt Farah. Snyder wanted to go to the track cheaply and ended up with an awesome little Fiero with a huge wing and a claimed 220 horsepower at the wheels thanks to a V6 from a Chevrolet Lumina. Check out the video to see how this pint-size Pontiac performs.

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
