Hooks, Texas, United States
you are looking at a 1972 grand prix , this car was bought new in Broken Bow Ok. this car has been in the same family for years , there son got the car at about 101,000 miles on it and drove it for the next few year as weekend driver , he did have the engine rebuild done at about the same time , the tranny has been rebuilt in the last 500 miles and does have a shift kit and a 3000 stall and the car runs excellent , I did put new plugs and fuel, filter , new rear tires less then 2 miles on them, the front tires are in good shape [not new] this car was also order with a 12 bolt rear end limited slip posi ,[ the rims are off a newer model grand prix ] I did put all new lug nuts when tires and rims went on to this car . As you can tell there son did start sanding the car for repaint but never finished the car, as his kids got older the car had sat more then drove . the engine is all stock 400 with a after market intake and carb along with headers and HEI distributor , as you can tell he did not spend much money on the exhaust , the car sounds good but this would need to be changed since this is o.k. for some but not correct at all . I have put the car on a lift to show the floor pans they are in nice shape I found one spot on the right side were there is a small spot of rust other wise the floor pans look great , the only other spot I found was under the battery tray small rust hole on inner fender well both of these are easy fixes look at pics very clean southern car no winters and parked inside at all times . There is rust at the base of the vinyl top the rest of the top feels solid, the doors open and close good the hinges are tight , the right hand door has some minor damage [see pics] and does open but touches the front fender when opening and closing the trunk button inside the car works fine and the stock manifold is in the trunk , we drove this car Saturday and it drives nice the shift kit works great as it should . please look at all pictures , ask questions these car's are getting hard to find in stock shape . you can drive this car home it runs that nice !!! the A/C is complete but does not blow cold air the am radio does not work . eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes
Thu, 10 May 2012When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.
