This is a 95% complete 68 GTO Convertible project car. If you don't like to do rust repair, this car is for you. I spent about $5000. at my local restoration shop having the trunk pan, rear floor pans and the bottom 2" of the left  rear quarter panel replaced. The right rear quarterpanel bottom is almost perfect and I have a picture to show that. The quarters and doors have some filler in them which I would remove and refinish. They are not rusty but need some straightening. The only rust repair left to do that I can see is a small patch at the bottom of the left fender and to finish repairs the body shop started on the corners of the inside of the trunklid. I will include an extra trunklid and some pieces to facilitate this repair.    The windshield is cracked and has paint overspray on it's inside. The engine is out of the car and is the original numbers matching 400 as is the turbo 400 transmission. I will set these back in the car for shipping. The engine will need rebuilding as it has sat for years. There is very little missing from this car and I believe it to be 95% complete. When I went through the parts I saw nothing of note missing, but when you assemble it im sure there will be some small items needed. The rear bumper is rechromed. Options are : hideaway lights, PS, PB, Auto trans AM/FM [included but will need to be serviced] an AM radio is in the car now, his and hers shifter, RallyII wheels, custom seat belts. Has 2 consoles and extra rear side panels. This car only needs finish body work and paint and could start being assembled.  Very original, no modifications of any significance. Have PHS documentation. Very nice, complete project car with a lot of work already completed. Not a rusty mess like most convertibles you will see. Original California black plate.

On Mar-31-14 at 22:24:19 PDT, seller added the following information:

The PHS document has a number called the Engine Unit number [379078] . This number is stamped next to the YS on the front of the block. The fenders will need straightening also but are solid except for one small spot at the bottom of the left fender.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.
