1965 Gto Original Tri-power - 4speed _ Original Documented Car on 2040-cars

 1965 GTO 389 Tri-Power, 4Speed Muncie M20 . 100% original drivetrain, body, windows.

This is a PHS documented WS code Tri-power 4 speed GTO with 100% original drive-train. I also have protecto plate verifying it's the original engine.

Being an original California car, it is a zero rust vehicle with the exception of one very small spot under the paint (smaller then a pencil eraser). It has rally gauges and center console. All systems function properly inclusive of lights, turn signals, horn, wipers and and complete rally gauge cluster.

The coker redlines are in excellent condition along with a coker redline spare. It has T-3 headlamps as well.

The body is very straight overall. The car has had one repaint approximately 10 years ago in the original color Starlight Black / Cameo Ivory, It has small touch ups and blemishes, but receives compliments and shows quite nicely for 10 year old paint. The chrome and trim are original and have minor pitting all the way around, but are in remarkebly good shape for being original.

The seat covers and carpeting have been replaced. The rest of the interior is original including the headliner and is in very good shape. All gauges, lights etc work.

The engine is a WS code block with the original 77 heads and original tri-power carbs. The engine was rebuilt in 2001 approximately 10,000 miles ago by the previous owner. The previous owner painted the engine the color it is now because he thought it made the engine look nicer, he also chromed the radiator guard and alternator bracket and added electronic ignition, besides those changes everything is original including fan and Harrison radiator. It performs nicely and is coupled to a smooth shifting original muncie M20 4 speed with the original Hurst shift assembly. The rear is original with 3.55 gears.

The car is a very nice turn key driver in mostly unmolested condition. I really do not want to sell the car and had no intention of doing so, but I just recently purchased a 65 tri-power 4 speed convertible and I just can't seem to justify 2 GTO's to the wife. The car is a very nice driver or with very little you can take it to the next level.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns

Sun, 05 Oct 2014

Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
