1968 Pontiac Firebird We listed this car last summer and the buyer never responded. I decided to keep the car but have since bought a differant car for next summer. So we have relisted this car at No reserve. Listed this week is a beautiful 1968 Firebird convertible. Look over the pictures and you will see how nice this car really is. The car started out with a virtually rust free southern Texas car. It was stripped down and repainted (PVE) GoManGo Orange. In my opinion, it was done very well but not necessarily perfect. The car has a very smooth running 350 Pontiac engine with a turbo 350 transmission. The car can be driven anywhere and is bone stock. The car is perfect for cruising every day. Again the car is ROCK solid and all original as far as I can tell. The undercarriage is very solid and unmolested. The top is all good and the interior is nice as you can see in the pictures. It's becoming very difficult to find a car that was not all cut up and replaced with aftermarket steel. Like I stated you can literally jump in the car and drive it anywhere. Known problems include: The car needs some door seals and a window seal. A few minor flaws in the paint that most won't even notice. The car is a real pleasure to drive and it has a very mean rumble. You could even turn your wife loose in it with no worries. The car does have a nice sound system complete with an in dash video system. I will be out of town until Saturday evening so if you have a question it may be awhile before I respond. Thank You for looking and good luck. We are selling this car as is, where is with no warranty as the state of Iowa requires us to do. We are a licensed and bonded dealer so NO worries about titles. We sell ALL of our vehicles as is with NO RESERVE. The purpose of this is to show you we ARE serious about selling our vehicles. $500 deposit is due within 3 calender days with the balance due within 7 days. Thank you for looking and good luck to everyone! |

General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
Rumormill: DeLorean Motor Company considering rescuing Pontiac Solstice?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 DeLorean Motor Company Pontiac Solstice renderings - Click above for high-res image gallery
General Motors has made a science out of sharing platforms. So when the company's Kappa platform was introduced for a new rear-drive roadster to be distributed across three different motor divisions, you'd have figured the program was pretty safe, right? Unfortunately for the workers at the Wilmington Assembly Plant which manufactured the Kappa roadsters, those three divisions were Pontiac, Saturn and Opel - three units which the General has either sold or shut down. Which is a shame, because a perfectly good rear-drive roadster platform is a heck of a thing to waste.
In one of the strangest rumors we've heard recently, however, our compatriots over at Jalopnik report that the DeLorean Motor Company (yes, that DeLorean Motor Company) is considering buying the plant and the platform from GM and putting it back into production as a new DMC.
This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
