For sale is a 1968 Plymouth Satellite 4-door sedan.  I am selling this car for my father who is the second owner.  This is an original numbers matching Plymouth with original 318 engine (rebuilt) and the original stock interior.  This car is in good to very good condition.  It must be seen and driven to truly appreciate it.  The car has 74,260 original miles on it.  The motor was rebuilt in 1997, when the car had 70,000 miles on it, to its original specifications.  The motor rebuild included a distributor rebuild, carburetor rebuild, new fuel pump, and water pump.  The original air cleaner assembly is also available, but it is not installed on the car at this time.  Car also includes the factory air conditioning system.  In order to make the AC functional, the car simply needs a belt installed and the system recharged.  Otherwise, no additional aftermarket or restoration parts have ever been included on this car.

The exterior of the car is in very good condition.  The car was originally white and a repaint was applied to the car when my father bought the car to ensure that the sheet metal retained its excellent quality.  The only noticeable area that needs reconditioning body work is around the base of the rear window along the trunk seam.  The previous owner had used body putty to fill in some small rust spots.  The only other noticeable spots of rust on the car are at the bottom corner of the two front doors.  Otherwise, the sheet metal on this car is in very good condition.  There is no rust on the under side of the hood or the trunk lid.  Additionally, there is no rust in the engine compartment or trunk.  The frame, fender wells, and under carriage of the car has no rust.  The fender trim, window trim and door handles specifically need to be reconditioned or replaced.  The bumpers on the car are the original bumpers that came on the car.  We have never been able to find replacement bumpers exactly like these, with the rubber bumper guards, so we chose not to replace them.  Otherwise, they could easily be replaced with new chrome bumpers.  You will find very few of a similar model year Plymouth (whether Satellite, Road Runner, or GTX) with original sheet metal in this condition.  In fact, this car could also be an excellent donor for a Road Runner or GTX rebuild.

The interior of the car in in very good condition.  The interior is the original Green never restored and never reconditioned.  The seats are in very good condition.  The carpeting is original and in good condition.  The floor pans have no rust in them and are in very good condition.  The dash is original and in fair condition with only a couple minor cracks.  The original thumbwheel radio is installed in the car but is not hooked up.  The dash is missing the factory bezel.  The door panels are likewise in very good condition.  The small parts (such as door handles and window cranks) show signs of wear and age and probably should be replaced.  Very few cars of this age will have as nice an interior without having been reconditioned.

Buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup.  Purchase requires $500 non-refundable down payment within three days of auction end.  Balance of payment is required prior to or at shipping or pick up date.  I accept PayPal or cashier's check.  If you have any questions or require additional information, please leave me a message with a phone number and I will contact you as soon as possible.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.
