65 Plymouth Satellite Convertible, Clone, 426 C.i. Street Wedge on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:47300
Location:

Kings Park, New York, United States

1965 Plymouth Convertible, one of only 1,800 built. Data plate says it should have a 318 but iit was changed to a 426 Wedge engine from a donor 1965 Plymouth. This is an air condition car from Florida. I have the compressor, condenser, brackets etc.but they are not on the car.
The engine was completely done over in 2003 (paper work included). It has the correct chrome valve covers, air cleaner and oil filler. New pistons, the crank was cut .010 under and balanced by Storm Cranks, rods were magnafluxed, all new bearings, new oil pump (65 lbs. pressure), Summit cam, etc. 2" exhaust system. Machine World did the engine. At the same time the Torqueflite was rebuilt as well as the torque converter by AAdvance Transmission, (they build their own torque converters). There is now after  11years, a slight leak from the transmission pan gasket. Also a new battery this year. There is very little mileage on this car since all this work was done. I have 3 other old cars that I also use sparingly.
The front end has been rebuilt over the years I've had it (since 1986). The bottom of the car is very clean, no rot, since the car is never out in the rain. The top is in good shape and also has a glass back window which is very rare. Top operates perfectly. The interior has no rips or tears in the seats or the panels. Only the rear seat was redone with a Legendary cover. All instruments work including the tach. on the center console
. There is an added oil pressure gauge and a small FM tape deck radio in the glove box.( kept the original radio in place).
THIS IS A DRIVER CAR. I just showed it at the AACA Westbury Gardens Show as well as the Newsday Field of Wheels Show located here on Long Island. One last thing, included in the price of the auction will be all the misc. extra parts I've accumulated, worth a couple of thousand dollars. Rear bumper, doors, hood, trunk, transmission, all sorts of trim, extra gas tank, steering wheel, extra heads etc, You'll need a truck! You get it all.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
