PURCHASED THRU A FRIEND, CAR HAS  A 383 4BL. COMMANDO ENGINE, 4 SPEED TRANS W/NON-FACTORY HURST SHIFTER. IT IS A NUMBERS MATCHING CAR THAT HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE 1992. THE CAR IS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION FOR ITS AGE. IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN DEC 1966 ACCORDING TO THE VIN. AFTER THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO MY SHOP, I SAW THAT THE CYLINDERS WERE FILLED WITH OIL. WE CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER,NEW BATTERY,CLEANED THE CARB AND REMOVED THE OIL,INSTALLED NEW PLUGS,WIRES,FRESH FUEL,AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP. IT RUNS SMOOTH AND NO SMOKE!!  WE THEN CHANGED ALL THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES,INSTALLED NEW DRUMS ,BRAKES,HARDWARE,WHEEL CYLINDERS. IT STILL NEEDS A MASTER AND PROPORTIONING VALVE BUT WE NOW HAVE A PEDAL. THE BODY NEEDS WORK TO LOWER REAR QUARTERS, BOTTOM  DOORS NEED PATCH,SOME FRAME PANEL  WELDED,1 RUST HOLE IN TRUNK OTHERWISE SURFACE,,2 TINY HOLES IN LEFT FENDER. THE CHASSIS NEEDS A TORSION BAR CROSSMEMBER ($273.00). ALL LEAF SPRING MOUNTINGS ARE SOLID. REST OF CHASSIS IS PRETTY GOOD,JUST SURFACE RUST. THE INTERIOR NEEDS A HEADLINER,SEAT COVERS FOR THE BUCKETS,AND THATS IT. REAR SEAT IS IN GREAT SHAPE,CARPET GOOD, DASHBOARD- NO CRACKS!!,. HAS 8TRACK/AM RADIO THAT IS REMOVABLE FROM DASH,AND IT ALL WORKS. FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. PROBABLY NEEDS SENDER. FUEL TANK APPEARS TO BE OK,I THINK IT WAS DRAINED. WE ARE RUNNING THE CAR ON A REMOTE FUEL CELL. CLUTCH FEELS GREAT. TRIM,EMBLEMS, AND MOULDINGS ARE GOOD WITH NORMAL PITTING. THE POWER STEERING FLUID IS LEAKING OUT OF THE PITMAN ARM SEAL. THE REAR DIFF IS GOOD WITH HARDLY ANY PLAY. THE EXHAUST LOOKS FACTORY AND HAS NO LEAKS!!  MY FRIEND TOLD ME THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AT A DEALER IN 1969 AND DRIVEN UNTIL 1973. IT THEN WAS STORED IN A GARAGE UNTIL 1992 WHEN IT WAS REGISTERED AND INSPECTED IN N.J. AND SAT  WITH VERY LITTLE USE UNTIL I PURCHASED IT. THE ODOMETER READS 28,703 WHICH MAY BE THE ORIGINAL MILEAGE. THATS WHY IT RUNS SO GOOD I GUESS, BUT I"M NOT SURE. THESE CARS ARE GETTING TO BE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. I"M SELLING THE CAR BECAUSE I HAVE TOO MANY OTHER CAR PROJECTS GOING ON AND I"M NOT REALLY A MOPAR GUY..  PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE NO FEEDBACK. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY!!

US Marshal's classic muscle car auction officially in the books

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

The US Marshal's so-called Blood Muscle Auction was completed earlier this month, with the prestigious nine-car field (two cars were added following Autoblog's initial story, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454 and a rare, mid-restoration 1971 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda) finding new and hopefully law-abiding owners.
While we'd normally recap the stars of the show, in this particular auction, every car's sale was newsworthy. The full list of sale prices doesn't seem to be published, but according to The New York Times, the auction brought in a total of $2.5 million, or an average of about $277,000 per car.
The king of the contest seems to be a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (above, right), complete with a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V8, which brought home $575,000. The trio of Yenko Chevys, meanwhile, all easily cleared the six-figure mark, with the Yenko Camaro (above, far right) clearing $315,000, the Chevelle crossing the block for $237,500 and the supremely rare - one of just 37 - Yenko Nova (shown above, left) selling for an even $400,000.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

'Blood Muscle' auction to sell impressive collection of ill-begotten classic cars

Wed, 30 Jul 2014

The old saying goes that if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. But being a criminal can involve more than just taking a trip to the big house; it can also mean losing possessions purchased from any ill-gotten gains. Still, one man's loss is another's gain, and if you're in Lodi, NJ, on September 12, you stand the chance to buy some of the ultimate muscle cars from the US Marshals in what is being gruesomely nicknamed the Blood Muscle auction.
The grisly moniker was earned because all of the vehicles belonged to the president of a blood testing company who is facing prison time for alleged bribery, according to Hemmings. After all, they are muscle cars bought with actual blood money. The seven-vehicle collection includes some of the ultimate muscle cars ever made, and the original buyer clearly had an eye for rarity.
This cornucopia of V8 power includes a teal 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429, a 1967 Shelby GT500 Mustang, an orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird, a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS convertible and perhaps most prized of all - a trio of 1969 Yenko Chevys with a Chevelle, Nova and Camaro all represented. From the included photos, all of them look to be in fantastic condition.
