1950 Plymouth Business Coupe, Camaro Clip California Rust Free Car No Reserve on 2040-cars

Year:1950 Mileage:93821 Color: Body is fairly straight
Location:

Lancaster, California, United States

Lancaster, California, United States

This is a no reserve auction for a 1950 Plymouth Business Coupe. This car appears to be an original California car with very little rust. This is a project vehicle and does need a lot of work but these cars are getting fewer everyday. This might be you last chance to build the car of your dreams. I will do my best to describe this vehicle both the good and the bad.

Exterior: Body is fairly straight (nothing bigger than a ding). The rear fenders are removed but are included in the sale. The left fender has a some rust on the lip that bolts to the body, there doesn't appear to be any other rust in the fenders. The front fenders and hood are just sat in place for photos and have not been mounted. The stock mounting points in the rear are still ok but the front core support needs to be installed and Camaro front clip modified to handle body and bumper. Front grill and front bumper are included but both are rough. The bumper is straight but needs chrome and the grill has a section broken in the top. I have the inner fender wheels, radiator bracket, hood latch, front bumper spacer, hood hinges, etc. In the trunk it appears that the spare tire hole has been cut out but it is still there or a replacement one is there. The trunk appears to be rust free. The only other place that rust appears is the right lower rocker panel behind the door. I have taken pictures of the rust so you can see for your self. The windows are all there except the back window. The passengers side window is cracked but it is flat glass so it should be easy to replace.

Interior: The dash is all in place but the but no idea if it all works. There is a seat bottom but no seat back. All the headliners bows seem to be in the car. The floor on the drivers side has been cut out but the part removed is included, I am guessing it was cut out when the car had the front clip installed. On the passengers side there is a piece of sheet metal installed over the existing floor. I have looked and haven't seen much rust so not sure why they did that but I haven't pulled it up either. I have a Camaro steering column that is included in the sale but is not in any of the pictures.

Chassis: The front clip has been replaced with a 70's Camaro front clip including power steering and disc brakes. This looks like the did a fairly good job on the install. The rear axle is still the stock 1950 Plymouth rear end. Bolt pattern is different front to rear because the change in front clip.

Other: The car is being sold on a bill of sale only. I bought this car from an estate sale and I was assured it hadn't been registered in years. I am selling the car as is where is. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. I am requesting a $200 paypal deposit with in 48 hours of the close of the auction. The balance can be paid in cash only at time of pick up. I encourage anyone interested in buying the vehicle to come and examine it in person before you bid. Ebay auctions are legal contracts and all sales are final.

SRT belatedly claims Plymouth Prowler as one of its own

Wed, 19 Dec 2012

Before Chrysler had Street and Racing Technology, it had Performance Vehicle Operations. What the two entities have in common, before SRT became its own brand, of course, is that each was created to take Chrysler and Dodge (and Plymouth, before it was unceremoniously killed off) vehicles to the next level of style and performance.
We'll leave the question of whether or not the old Plymouth (and later Chrysler) Prowler was ultimately a stylish, performance-oriented car to you, but the boys and girls currently leading the SRT charge at the Pentastar headquarters are keen to accept the retro-rod into the fold.
According to the automaker, all of SRT's current high-performance models owe a debt of gratitude to the old Prowler, due mostly to that car's use of lightweight bits and pieces and innovative construction techniques. If nothing else, the fact that the Prowler's frame is "the largest machined automotive part in history" is pretty cool. Read all the details here.

'71 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible sells for $3.5M [w/video]

Mon, 16 Jun 2014

We're plenty used to seeing classic cars selling for millions of dollars. It's just that they're usually European: Ferraris, Bugattis, Mercedes and the like. There are some rare American exceptions, usually wearing the names Duesenberg or Shelby. But what we have here is the most expensive Chrysler product ever sold at auction.
The vehicle in question is a Plymouth Barracuda - specifically a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible, chassis #BS27R1B315367 - that Mecum Auctions just sold after eight solid minutes of feverish bidding for a high bid of $3.5 million at its auction in Seattle, Washington. That figure positively eclipses the $2.2 million paid for a strikingly similar Hemi Cuda (chassis #BS27R1B269588) fetched nearly seven years ago in Scottsdale and another that was the first muscle car to break the million-dollar mark in 2002.

Barrett-Jackson 2014: 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird passes half a million dollars

Sat, 18 Jan 2014

The Plymouth Superbird is one of those classic American cars from the muscle car era that has captured the imagination of all sorts of automotive enthusiasts long after its presence on roads and race tracks wore away. It's easy to see why. Where else but in the Swingin' Sixties and Seventies would a car leave the factory with an aerodynamics package that included a pointy beak and a rear spoiler that sat several feet above the rear deck?
The example you see above, which was born in 1970, is one of the finest Superbirds we've ever seen. Combine its complete restoration with its original 426 Hemi engine, and it's no surprise that it managed to bring in a cool half million dollars (plus 10 percent in fees) at Barrett-Jackson. See it yourself in our high-res image gallery above, and scroll down below for the official auction description.
