1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 442 W-30 Convertible      Make your escape from the ordinary! 1970 was the pinnacle of the muscle car era, and the Cutlass/442 model is one of the most highly sought after muscle cars on the planet. This sweet 1970 Oldsmobile was made to look like the awesome 442 W-30 convertible model seen in the pictures. I have to say this is one of the cleanest 43 year old undercarriages I have seen on a car from the Midwest. I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. The mileage could possibly be the original, but the mileage is exempt when these cars are titled nowadays, so I will not make that statement as factual. This Olds is not a Wyoming car like the plate shows on the back bumper. I simply used that plate to add character to the picture of the rear of the car. It does have a clean and clear title issued in Illinois from 1993. I got the car already painted and striped. The body is virtually laser straight as seen in the pictures. I would rate this as a drivers quality paint job that some people might consider to be closer to show quality. The chrome is in drivers quality condition or better. The door handles are brand new, and the window felts, and the rubber gaskets on the doors are also brand new. The trunk gasket is brand new. The body was painted in special ordered 1970 Code 51 Sebring yellow, and the W-25 ram-air hood stripes, and the W-30 side stripes are black. This car looks spectacular to nearly everyone who sees it. This car is for the guy or girl who had one in high school and would like to revisit the past, or for someone who simply likes to drive around to enjoy steering their investment while their money grows. It's also a wonderful car to take to the local drive-in movie theater or cruise night with the top down. Doesn't every guy or girl deserve to have an old school classic car to tinker around with in their garage at night? These cars were made to allow the average guy or girl to be able to work on them without having to pay the high dollars of having a shop have do all the work. There are a wide variety of muscle and classic car part suppliers out there today that stock nearly every part you could ever need for these types of classic cars. Local swap meets are also a fun hobby to acquire parts where nearly any part can be found very inexpensive. Summer is officially starting this week, so this convertible is getting ready for a full season of top down cruising! The convertible top had some minor repair work professionally done, but is barely noticeable. There is a rear glass window, not plastic. Included with this auction is an original convertible top boot to place over the top whenever the top is down. This car has a nice new pair of headers, and both mufflers are brand new with chrome trumpets exposed through the cut-out portions of the rear bumper. Every time this car is fired up, it's like an adrenaline rush! The engine is powered by a newer AC Delco battery, and was meticulously detailed with new yellow Super Stock 8mm spark plug wires for maximum spark. This Olds has a four core radiator for maximum cooling. A new set of AC Delco Rapid Fire Performance spark plugs were just replaced, along with a new distributor cap and rotor. I was told the engine and transmission are original to the car and were completely redone including a high performance cam. It has the W-25 forced air induction ram-air hood, with the awesome factory GM ram-air cleaner that has a new foam seal. The hood has brand new chrome twistdowns to make sure it stays locked down in place. The trunk lid has a spoiler to help give it down force at high speeds. This Olds has the one year only 1970 dual clam shell sport mirrors with the drivers side being remote controlled. It is steered with the deluxe four spoke 442 sport wheel. All the seat belts are in place in the front and the rear. The windows are all tinted from the factory. There is nothing like cruising down the road looking out the windshield at that awesome striped hood, with the top down, and a peek in the rear view mirror to see the spoiler. The options include power steering, power brakes, and power top. This Olds has a 10-bolt rear-end, but I am not sure of the gear ratio. This Oldsmobile rides on a very nice set of four raised white lettered P225/70R14" General XP 2000 radial tires. They are mounted on a set of four Super Stock II wheels with all four bolt-on center caps, and all four beauty trim rings mounted with new chrome lug nuts. The horn, lighter, and clock are not working, but the clock is set on the best time of the day. It's always 4:42 time! The front bucket seats were just reupholstered, so they will be nice and comfortable for many years to come. The balance of the interior shows very well as shown in the pictures. This car has an after market Sony AM/FM Cassette player, but is not wired up, so the choice of stereo will be left up to the winning bidder. A brand new washer fluid container, and a new coolant overflow tank were just installed. It would not take much to bring this car up to the next level. The carpet was recently installed with brand new floor mats. The original trunk floor was coated with AC Delco spatter spray, and has a new trunk mat with a nicely restored jack, and crowbar. A full size Super Stock II wheel with a raised white lettered spare tire comes inside the trunk just in case there is a mishap on the road. With a quick tire change you can be on your way looking complete. Everywhere you drive this car people are attracted to this droptop like a magnet. You must be prepared to be the spectacle of the neighborhood. These cars are getting harder and harder to come across. I tried to replace all of the factory decals to make this Olds appear as it would have looked the day it rolled out of the factory onto the showroom floor to resemble the way a real 442 convertible would have looked back in 1970. Take advantage of this chance to finally own your dream car. This is an investment that will continue to rise as these cars have been known to consistently appreciate in value with each quarter. This is a prime opportunity to own a piece of muscle car history at a reasonable price. A great deal of time, money, and effort went into making the car you see listed in this description. What you see is exactly what you get! Plain and simple! The Nada Classic Car Price Guide has the current values that anyone can check on-line for a genuine 1970 442 convertible listed at $54,625 in the highest condition, $29,325 in average condition, and $16,732 in the lowest possible condition. I took the time and consideration to pay attention to all the little details that are typically missing on a car of this magnitude. I tried to describe all of the pertinent information, so any potential bidder can make the most informed decision possible before placing their bid. If there is anything else you feel may have been missed, please ask us any question you like. I always answer every question in explicit detail with the utmost honesty. This is a quick 5-day "No Reserve" auction, and will sell to the highest bidder Sunday evening at 8pm Eastern time, 7pm Central time, or 5pm Pacific time. I'm sorry, but Harriet in the opening picture is not included. Thank you for taking the time to view this auction.  Good Luck and Happy Bidding!!!

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.
