1952 Mercury Monteray 2dr, Hardtop Nice!! on 2040-cars
Little Rock, Arkansas, United States
Up for sale is my 52 Mercury coupe 2 door hardtop. I unfortunately do not have the time or funds to do this special auto justice. This car gets looks everywhere I take it. It has the makings of an awesome rat rod, hot rod or make it your own custom street rod. It has been restored previously in its life and looks remarkable for its age. The mileage that I have listed is what is showing on the odometer currently but I have no way of knowing what the actual mileage is. I do have a key for it but it only works the ignition. Its driver and passenger windows are spider cracked from age but still holding together. Window regulators in both doors and rear glass are functioning. The hard to find most expensive front and rear glass is not damaged. It drive train is a 302 auto with a 9" rear end. it does run and drive and I have driven it on the road although I would not trust it far. The exhaust is open just past the manifolds. So it is loud. The original brakes do function and stop the Merc. The original front end is nice and tight. That being said, I would suggest a trailer for the ride home. The electrical system has been updated to 12 volts and the front headlights have been replaced. the rear tail lights will need to rewired. The body and floor do have some rust as to be expected from a 50+ year old car. When the previous restoration was done patch panels were made for the floor pans so the floor does not give. The original gas tank has been removed but is included with the car. It runs off a fuel cell mounted in the trunk. The original hubcaps are also included. The wheels have been replaced and the tires are older but probably don't have 1000 miles on them and would last for some time as they are not dry rotted. The interior is nice but does show it age in places. This is an excellent start to get u going on a restoration or repair just minor items and drive it. Please ask any question before u bid or make an appointment to come out and look. I am available most days before 1pm. Call, text or send a message thru ebay and I can help u. 870-917-4381. I have a clean Arkansas title for this car so it is ready to go. I can assist with loading if needed. ask any questions before u bid as ur bid is a contract. I do have a reserve but it is not outrageous and it is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early as needed. I am asking for a $500 deposit within 24 hrs of the auctions close. The balance is due within 7 days payable by cashiers check or cash but it will be paid for in full and verified before the car and title leaves my possession. I can hold the car until we can make arrangements for it to be paid for and picked up. Max 14 days please. I am willing to sell worldwide but funds to be paid in USD and u are responsible for all shipping arrangements and fees . Thanks, happy biding, good luck!!!

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Kit Cat: Mercury Cougar makes perfect Bugatti Veyron substitute

If you've got a pulse in your wrist and a snapping brain cell in your head, chances are you wouldn't mind parking a Bugatti Veyron in your garage. But for most mere mortals, scrounging up the cash for a physics-bending piece of 16-cylinder glory would require all sorts of unpalatable tasks. Fortunately for those who want to look the part without having to participate in human trafficking, the kit car universe has stepped in to save the day. All you need is a 1999-2002 Mercury Cougar, a boat load of fiberglass and a little patience.
Oh, and $89,000.
NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs
Mon, 11 Mar 2013It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
