1992 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS LS FOR SALE. THIS WAS MY MOTHER-IN-LAW'S CAR. SHE PURCHASED IT NEW AND HAD IT UNTIL SHE PASSED AWAY. ALWAYS SERVICED REGULARLY. WE JUST DON'T NEED THE CAR AND IT DOES NOT GET DRIVEN ENOUGH. ALMOST NEW MICHELIN TIRES AND BRAND NEW SPARE. THE INTERIOR IS IN ALMOST MINT CONDITION. I DON'T THINK YOU WILL FIND ONE THIS YEAR MODEL IN BETTER CONDITION INSIDE. THE OUTSIDE HAS NO DAMAGE OF ANY KIND. JUST NORMAL FADING OF THE TRIM IN PLACES. ONLY THREE THINGS THAT I KNOW OF THAT ARE WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW IS OFF THE TRACK AND WILL NOT GO DOWN. THE ODOMETER QUIT WORKING A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE CAR HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES SINCE THEN. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS FINE. FINALLY, IT MAY NEED A NEW STARTER OR SWITCH. OCCASIONLLY, WHEN YOU HIT THE SWITCH, THE ENGINE DOES NOT TURN OVER ON THE FIRST TRY BUT WILL ON THE SECOND. IT ALWAYS STARTS UP. I WOULD TRUST THIS CAR TO GO ANY DISTANCE. EVERYTHING ELSE WORKS GREAT ON THIS CAR. CRUISE, ELECTRIC SEATS, AC AND EVERYTHING ELSE. ASKING $2,500.00 OR BEST OFFER. THANKS

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey
Wed, 09 Jan 2013The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.
Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman
Wed, 17 Nov 2010Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!
