1986 Mercury Grand Marquis 5.0 Fuel Inj. Daily Driver, Cold A/c on 2040-cars

Year:1986 Mileage:147000
Location:

You are bidding on my daily driver. Its a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis. 5.0 fuel injected with an automatic transmission. It runs and drives great with cold A/C and a hot heater. It has working cruise control and power windows. The passenger front and rear window work fine, the drivers rear needs a new gear, the motor works just wont make it go up. The drivers front I just put a new motor in but has a short in the switch or somthing you have to tap the panel sometimes to make it work. I bought it from an old man about a year ago and love it but I bought a truck and no  longer need it. It is all original, even still had the original hoses but I did have all the coolant hoses changed before making a 900 mile trip last summer. It does fine on long trips, I wouldnt be afraid to drive it anywhere. I put about 400 miles a week on it with no problems. The only thing it will do is every now and then when you first start it up it will run rough and act like its missing, but when it does that just kill it and restart and it goes away. It only does that a few times a month so I never worried about getting it looked at and like I said if you simply kill it and restart it runs fine. Also the valve covers are leaking oil from old age, it leaks about a quart about every 1500 miles. The vinyl roof is all split up as you can see in the pics and the head liner and visors are ripped up as well from the age. Other than that its a great car and I hate to sell it. I can store it as long as needed after the auction ends but do require full payment within 14 days of auction ending. If you wish to drive it home I could pick you up from the new orleans airport. If you have any questions or want more pictures send me an email. Happy Bidding....

Jill Wagner retired as Mercury spokeswoman

Wed, 17 Nov 2010

Jill Wagner has officially given up her crown as the queen of Mercury. With the Ford middle child on its way to the scrap heap, Wagner no longer has any automotive hardware to promote. Given her varied talents, we wouldn't be surprised to see her pick up where she left off with another automaker.
And here you thought you'd never be upset about Mercury's passing.
Thanks for the tip, Gregg!

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
