1999 Mercedes E300td Stn Wgn Turbo Diesel Conversion on 2040-cars

Year:1999 Mileage:98232 Color: of the car could use a clear coat on the hood and roof of car
Location:

San Francisco, California, United States

San Francisco, California, United States

What I have here for sale is a 1998 E320  gas wagon to diesel conversion. The 1998 & 99 E300td estate wagon was never sold in the USA. This vehicle was sold in Europe and utilized the coveted Mercedes Benz OM 606.962 power plant.  This motor was the last of the Fuel Pump injected diesels before diesels went common rail so they can still run on straight vegetable oil. (not possible with common rail motors). These motors are 6 cylinder inline with 4 valves per cylinder. This motor is unstoppable and bullet proof.  I spent over $15,000 upgrading a 93 g-wagen to this same engine. I purchased this car last year anticipating weekly drives between S.F. Ca and Seattle Washington. But have decided to fly the route instead. This is a 1999 E320 station wagon that has been professionally converted to a turbo diesel by means of a donor 1999 E300turbo Diesel sedan.  The turbo diesel was purchased with 80k  on it, it had been hit from behind. The entire driveline, gauges and electronics are E300td.  The station wagon came with 130k on it with a blown motor. If you regular PointedThree.com plz mention this vehicle. I know of only one other wgn to diesel conversion here in the USA. This vehicle was converted and licensed as a diesel in Sacramento California. Currently the car is in San Francisco Ca with Washington title and reg.
The shop that did the conversion is an exceptional shop which I now take many of my cars to. The converter spared no expense on the conversion and made sure that every bushing, bearing and line was new i.e. improved when I bought it 13,000 miles ago. Everything under the hood appears as perfect as any garage stored and pampered car can be. The front end is absolutely tight. This car is exceptional. It currently gets around 35mpg hiway. I had lent it to my 72 yr old mother to drive for the last 10k miles.  The car does not rattle, shimmy , pull or anything. It drives flawlessly. The exterior of the car could use a clear coat on the hood and roof of car, there is a rip in the drivers seat, and a slight dent in the rear deck lid that is hardly noticeable.
Everything in the cabin operates as intended. Heated seats, mechanical drink holder, power everything as most E classes are. Brakes are new, tires are very good, A.C. blows cold, cruise conrol is fine, radio / cd changer is good. Power seats, airbags, extra rear jump seat, the list goes on. Rubber floor mats and bed mat, this car is great !
My wife is currently driving this car, though you can schedule an inspection if so inclined.  This is your chance to get around the $30,000 D.O.T. import conversion. Car resides in San Francisco. Please contact me with any questions.
Happy Bidding.

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class interior caught in spy shots

Tue, 29 Jan 2013

With the redesigned 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class getting closer to production, the camera-wielding crew over at Autospies somehow managed to get inside of the car to snap some detailed spy shots. As the prototypes continue to shed camouflage, it would appear that Mercedes-Benz is getting closer to unveiling the car, and with the Geneva and New York auto shows coming up, it could be sooner rather than later.
From what we can see of this car's interior, the overall look of the S-Class' cabin isn't a ground-breaking departure from the current car, but it has been completely redesigned with more advanced technology. The styling is now even more upscale with larger swaths of wood, more shapely door panels (without the built-in armrest cubbies) and the concept-like two-spoke steering wheel. The highlight of this car though is probably the two massive digital screens with one being used for driver information and the other used for navigation, audio and infotainment systems. One other detail we noticed about this car is that it was equipped with the new 360-degree camera that debuted on the new GL-Class and will also be used on the 2014 E-Class. We also know that the next-gen S-Class will be getting the new cloud-based MBrace2 infotainment system.
As for the exterior design, it looks like the next S-Class will carry a similar profile as the current car, but we can see through the camouflage that the new styling will fit in better with current Mercedes-Benz products. Up front, the grille is much larger is flanked by aggressive LED-trimmed headlights, while the rear view of the car shows us the LED brake light now at the top of the rear window, a more pointed trunk opening and a more squared-off rear fascia with exhaust outlets pushed to the corners.

How could a lifted Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG be more awesome? Add an axle

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

We are fully confident in saying that this will be the most amazing thing you see all day. First of all, it's a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen - in AMG spec, no less. And it's being shown off in high-definition video glory, blasting through the desert, jumping over sand dunes, and generally being awesome. But here's the kicker: It has six wheels. Three axles. And they're all driven. Holy $%!#.
Under the hood is AMG's usual 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8, and total output is rated at 536 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. That's impressive and all, but do keep in mind that the G63 6x6 weighs in at 8,322 pounds or, you know, the weight of two E-Class sedans. Combine that with its 18 inches of ground clearance, 37-inch tires and five locking differentials and you've got a vehicle capable of, well, everything you've ever imagined or will ever imagine for the rest of your life.
But the goodness doesn't stop once you open the doors. Oh, no. This thing is fit for a king - or a sheik, more appropriately - with ultimately luxurious seating for four. The rear bench seat has been removed in favor of two bucket seats with a fixed console in the middle, and the rear seats have been moved back beyond the usual B pillar to allow for more legroom.
