See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"The power steering box has a slight leak that is not a problem if you top it off with fluid now and then, but could use repair. The only other mechanical issue is the idle control valve which is either going bad or needs adjustment- while warming up the car makes a rhythmic zooming, once warm it runs smoothly. AC does not work but all blowers and heat work (all heat levers are original and perfect). The exterior has some rust spots (all pictured) but the frame is strong and rust free. Car was repainted in past, but the "tobacco brown" is the original color. If looking to restore it will probably need to be repainted. There is some odd spotting on the car that shows in bright sunlight- I believe it is from a bad coat of wax and may scrub off with the right product."

This is a beautiful 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280se 4.5L.  This is a spectacular car to drive and always turns heads as you go down the road.

It has a powerful 8 cylinder engine with a new fuel pump and trigger points. The power steering box has a slight leak that is not a problem if you top it off with fluid now and then, but could use repair. The only other mechanical issue is the idle control valve which is either going bad or needs adjustment- while warming up the car makes a rhythmic zooming, once warm it runs smoothly.
The interior is the finest I have ever seen- The dash is crack free and the wood has beautiful original high gloss. Contrasting the deep hues of the mahogany dash is a beautiful ivory white steering wheel. Original Becker Curona works well. The Wood window surround at drivers seat has been refinished, the 3 other windows have not been redone but would refinish well. The drivers seat shows normal wear, but all other seats and rugs look untouched. Whoever had this car originally must have always driven it alone because the back seats literally feel like they have never been sat in.  AC does not work but all blowers and heat work (all heat levers are original and perfect). It has its original unopened first aid kit (all writing in German)!
The exterior has some rust spots (all pictured) but the frame is strong and rust free. I had it at a mechanic recently to get the trigger points replace and they told me it is a strong car. If looking to completely restore it, it will probably need to be repainted. There is rust on the body in a few places, the worst located on the right fender and a rust hole in the trunk tire storage well. The car shows well as it is, but after a trip to the body shop to repair the exterior, this car will belong on Pebble Beach. You won't find another interior like this for this price. I bought the Benz a year ago with hopes of doing the cosmetic work myself but I am going to college next year and dont have the time or money to take care of the car. The inspection sticker expired a month ago, so it is due for inspection. Just know that I am not a mechanic and have told you everything I know, I give no guarantees on the car and it is being sold "as is". If you buy the car I will want a $500 deposit via paypal and the rest in cash when you come to pick it up.  Email me with any questions! Don't miss out on this great deal!

Boston bombers were tracked using Mercedes mbrace [w/video]

Sun, 28 Apr 2013

We now know Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the two brothers said to be behind the Boston Marathon bombings, planned to head for New York City to detonate more improvised explosive devices. As it turns out, that plan was foiled by the quick thinking of one Mercedes-Benz owner, diligent police work and the Mercedes-Benz mbrace system. When the brothers carjacked a 26-year-old Chinese entrepreneur identified only as "Danny," they didn't realize his Mercedes-Benz M-Class was equipped with the mbrace system, which can call for help in the event of an accident or track the vehicle in the event of a theft.
According to reports, the Tsarnaev brothers held Danny hostage for nearly 90 minutes while they drove around Boston forming a plan until they had to stop for fuel. When one of the brothers went inside to pay, the other put his gun down for a moment. Danny took the opportunity to unlatch his seat belt, open the door and run to another nearby gas station, where he told the owner to call the police.
When police arrived, they used the mbrace system to track the SUV after receiving Danny's permission, and it wasn't long before a shootout between police and the brothers ensued. When it was over, the eldest brother lay dead in the street. For more on the story, view the video report available below.

Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]

Sat, 27 Apr 2013

The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.
