The car starts and runs on all six cylinders. The car could use a new exhaust some where down the road, but not right away. The only real problem with the car will be interior work. You will probably spend most of your time fixing the inside of the car rather than the engine. If you are looking for a car to make pretty then this is the car you are looking for. You will not have any serious problems with the engine with this car."

This car was purchased by my grandfather as a daily driver in 2001. In 2006, my grandfather passed away and my grandmother drove the car up until she purchased a new car in 2008. From 2008 to 2009, the car wasn't being used as much, weekly grocery store shops, neighborhood drives, nothing to far away. Then from 2009 to 2013, the car sat in the garage of my grandmother's house.

In early May, my grandmother gifted me the car to fix up and drive around. It was always a dream to fix this car back to its beauty. However, with time, money, and trying to go to school full time, building this car is not in my best interest. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that selling the car is unfortunately my best option.

After taking the car to a Mercedes Benz specialist, the car has a newly rebuilt transmission that shifts through gears better than expected. The car is running on all six cylinders and drives very well. Aside from the rebuilt transmission, the specialist put in a brand new fuel pump, brand new battery, used but very good condition fluid coupling, redid the wiring to the car, and a lot of other miscellaneous things. I have all the receipts to prove all the work that he did. The specialist did mention that the exhaust will need to be replaced, but not right away. The specialist was a little disappointed that I was selling the car because he put in a lot of good parts. This car could be used as a parts especially due to type of engine and transmission.

All the car really needs is interior work. The engine should not have any problems anytime soon, since I took it through all this and replaced a lot of parts. If you have the time to redo the interior then this is the car you are looking for. The exterior of the car is in good condition. A nice detail job to the exterior wouldn't be a bad idea and a paint job can come later.

Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG coming to the New York Auto Show

Tue, 05 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz showed off the CLA45 AMG at a private event on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show, but was determined not to let it be photographed. We can talk about it, though - after all, a teaser image was released to promote the new Sony game Drive Club. The CLA45 AMG will use the same powertrain as the A45 AMG, which means a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. And that means a small four-door coupe sedan with the highest horsepower-per-liter in the segment. It will shift through the same seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, should also run out of speed at 155 miles per hour and have that three-stage stability control system.
As with its hatch sibling, the CLA is already so aggressive on the outside - and the parent company so anxious not to demolish the sedan's 0.22 coefficient of drag - that not much has been done to the cranked-up CLA. Even the rather thin tires on the standard only get a little less thin on the hotter variant. Inside will be the telltale AMG signs, with lots of red detailing and that flat-bottomed wheel among the giveaways. We'll know more later this month when the wraps come off at the New York International Auto Show.

Does Alex Rodriguez' Mercedes dealership have a PR problem?

Thu, 08 Aug 2013

Alex Rodriguez, in case you haven't heard, is seemingly the new Most Hated Man In Baseball, ostensibly replacing commissioner Bud Selig (for now). Rodriguez was slammed with a 211-game suspension due to his role in the MLB's latest steroid scandal in which "A-Roid," as fans have taken to calling the former superstar, was cited with steroid use and attempts to hide his involvement by "engaging in a course of conduct intended to obstruct and frustrate" the investigation, according to the MLB's official report.
Why is this on a car site, then? Because Rodriguez' name is attached Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz in League City, TX. An Ad Age report cites Mercedes-Benz USA in saying that A-Rod owns "about half'" of the dealership. Mercedes, for what it's worth, isn't going to any to any lengths to distance itself from its dealership or its controversial namesake, saying, "We never promoted the fact that A-Rod owned a dealership, so there's really nothing to 'distance' ourselves from. And since his activity is not illegal but rather prohibited by MLB, there's nothing actionable here."
With the scandal still a fresh piece of news and A-Rod's pending appeal, it's difficult to tell what sort of effect, if any, his name will have on the dealership's sales. Ad Age contacted the GM of Alex Rodriguez Mercedes-Benz to get the dealership's view, but no calls were returned. According to Mercedes, any name change is up to Rodriguez and his partner(s) at the dealership. Somehow, though, we think A-Rod has other things to worry about beyond his dealership's name.

Test drive the Mercedes SLS AMG Electric Drive with Chris Harris

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

It's hard to not like the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. The all-aluminum coupe is fitted with a wonderful naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 delivering 583 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Not only does the burly combustion engine launch the two-seater to 60 miles per hour in less than four seconds, but it does so with one of the world's greatest exhaust soundtracks as it roars, burbles and cackles down the road.
But what happens when Mercedes-Benz takes away the V8 and its accompanying fire-burning song? Stripped of one of its most appealing assets, does the SLS lose its soul?
Chris Harris recently had the opportunity to take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive for a track spin in Europe. Sans gasoline, but with four electric motors providing a combined 740 horsepower (737 pound-feet of torque), all-electric all-wheel drive coupe uses sophisticated torque vectoring and a multi-mode operating system to put oversteer - drifting! - back into the equation. Fun? You bet. See for yourself, below.
