ONLY 62,xxx miles !!! This is a completely stock, original-condition car that runs and drives perfectly. I recently drove this car from Ohio to Georgia with no issue and would trust it to do it over and over. The paint is original from what I know, and the car hasn't been in any known accidents. The paint looks superb for it's age, with a nice gloss and a few stone nicks and no major problems. The body is clean and very nice but has quite a few door dings from being kept in a garage for along time by the previous owner. The aluminum wheels are in good condition, the glass is all good except a small chip in the windshield and the tires have great tread left with no blemishes. The interior of this RX-7 is very well-preserved and in great condition for its age. The seats, upholstery and carpets are original and they are clean and aren't ripped up or worn out but the interior is slightly fading from burgundy to brown and the driver seat has a tear in the window side bolster. This is a 1988 car and as such it is not a brand-new car but is in great shape for its age. Here is a complete list of everything I know of wrong with the car, no matter how minor: There are many dings on the sides of the car, mostly above the beltline and more on the passenger side- this is what I'd call "garage wear". There is a bit of surface rust under the car on the nuts and bolts and some suspension and some stone nicks on the inside lip of the right rear wheel well that has been brush-touched (otherwise the car is rust-free).There are a few rock chips and small scratches on various places of car, since it has not been restored perfect paint should not be expected. The suspension bushings need to be changed dew to age and wear. I have no problem with having and inspection done at a shop of your choice. Oil change coolant flush and New brake pads and rotor were installed 9/3/14 |

Mazdaspeed2 supermini hot hatch under consideration
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Though the Ford Fiesta ST and Fiat 500 Abarth (and arguably the Mini Cooper S) may stand pretty much alone in the North American market, in overseas markets, supermini hot hatches are a big deal. Unfortunately, challengers like the Volkswagen Polo GTI, Seat Ibiza Cupra and Renault Clio RS 200 Turbo never make it to our showrooms, but word has it that there's soon to be a new entry on the market.
That would be the Mazdaspeed2, which would be badged in certain markets as the Mazda2 MPS. Speaking with Australian site CarAdvice.com.au at the launch of the Mazda2 on which it would be based, the Japanese automaker's global sales chief and the hatchback's deputy product manager hinted that such a product is definitely being discussed, even if it hasn't yet been approved.
This wouldn't be the first time such a notion were entertained, as Mazda has shown numerous performance concepts based on the previous Mazda2/Demio over the years, but none have come to fruition.
Car and Driver lists 10Best for 2013, same as it ever was
Wed, 05 Dec 2012Forgive us for having the distinct feeling of déjà vu, but it certainly feels like we've been here before. By that we are referring Car and Driver and the announcement of its annual 10Best vehicles for 2013. To be sure, it's an impressive selection of cars that combine heart-pounding performance and frugal sensibilities, but it also represents something of a broken record on the part of C/D. We're not so sure that's a flaw, though, as the resulting list is tough to argue with.
Vehicles like the Ford Mustang, Porsche Boxster, and BMW 3 Series have maintained their high-horsepower spots on this list for several years now. Even on the more practical and nimble end, the Honda Accord, Honda Fit and Mazda Miata have not budged. These continued spots are even in light of redesigns for some vehicles such as the Accord, Boxster and 3 Series.
In fact, the only newcomer to the 10Best list this year are the Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ twins, which knocked out the Cadillac CTS-V. We think it would have been a huge misstep to have excluded the FR-S/BRZ, even in light of the supercharged Caddy's lamentable departure from 10Best.
Mazda Miata 'fathers' Hall and Case offer a tour through the roadster's history
Wed, 10 Sep 2014The original Mazda Miata broke onto the automotive scene in 1989 and was a huge success. However, the convertible's genesis goes all the way back to the early '80s. Bob Hall and Dean Case were among the inside men of the program on the US side, and they were on hand at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca during the recent MX-5 event there to tell some of their stories about the project's beginning.
Hall was on the Miata project from very early on, and one of his most fascinating stories is how the convertible got its shape. The droptop wasn't necessarily going to be a rear-wheel drive roadster. There were both front-wheel-drive coupe and mid-engine concepts being considered. In fact, the classic look of the NA generation was the least favorite of the three at the sketch stage.
Hall comes off as a jokester hiding a genius mind. He has a fountain of information in his head about what a Miata should be, but it all comes down to "less is more." However, he admits that it's easy to conceive that idea, but it's much harder to actually execute it well.
