I have a 1985 Mazda RX7 GSL-SE. The Buy it now price is set at a extremely fair value for this car based on the now near 30 year old average condition of the available inventory,  I know it does not look like much in the pictures but dont judge this book by it's cover.  I can tell you from all my years of experience with 1st generation RX'7's, this is a solid, nice foundation platform to build something of your choice or use like it is.  The car has been lightened up I assume for racing by persons unknown.  It has most of the interior removed,  Has both front seats and they show some wear but neither is ripped or torn.  Engine runs and sounds strong.  Has had most accessories removed from the engine compartment,  only starter & alternator remain.  Has high flow inlet air filter.  Car has steel braided brake lines on all four wheels and nice aftermarket steering wheel.  I installed 4 near new Falkin ZE-512 tires and recently reconditioned the factory wheels & center caps.  Car has 4 wheel disc brakes,  rear wheel drive with a limited slip rear end with 4.07 gear ratio.  Radio has been removed and a racing tach installed in the instrument cluster.  All electrical, lights, signals, alternator etc appear to work.   Paint job is poor and clear coat is coming off.  Car has the RARE & desireable Factory 3 piece rear spoiler,  I have had many offers just for the spoiler but would rather it go with the car.   Car runs and drives well,  when I bought the car the previous owner drove it to my house for delivery,  about 30 miles without any problems.   I have only driven the car around the block and seems to run & shift gears just fine,  clutch seems to be in good shape.  Car would be perfect platform for a track race car or V8 swap since it is already stripped down. Negative things are the front rh fender is bent at the vertical rear edge parallel to the rh door. The car has the adjustment screw for the cold start fast idle system missing, it starts good but needs accelerator help till warms up then idles fine.   Rear hatch struts need to be replaced. All door and rear hatch key lock cylinders have been removed.   I have clear Texas title and the registration is current till the end of Feb 2013.  The state inspection just ran out at the end of 2012,  it has been a regular driver.  I am a 1st gen RX7 fan and currently own 9.  I bought this car to part out and use the parts to keep my fleet running.  I have decided this car does not deserve to be junked as it is in good driveable condition with no rust issues at all, very clean body.  Mileage show 69,xxx but I doubt this is original as the dash cluster has been modified or replaced.   I hope the car will go to someone that can get more good use from it and help me preserve the 1st generation legacy, they are getting harder and harder to find, especially the rare 84 & 85 GSL-SE models,  I do all I can to keep them alive!   Please contact me by email with questions and Thanks for looking.

Mazda MX-5 GT gets green light

Fri, 18 Oct 2013

The Mazda MX-5 Miata is as popular around the Autoblog offices as Kate Upton posters are around fraternity houses. Few staffers have much criticism for Mazda's ubiquitous roadster, and fewer still aren't overjoyed when one arrives in their driveway. So you can imagine how a report from Auto Express about a more potent MX-5 model is going over in our offices today.
The new model, which was shown in concept form as the Mazda MX-5 GT at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, has a slight catch, though. First, we have absolutely no idea if Mazda will bring the MX-5 GT to the US. Secondly, and perhaps more problematically, this isn't a production car - it's a kit from the team at Jota Sport.
Now, to be fair, the kit doesn't sound like a bad thing. It bumps the UK-spec 2.0-liter, 157-horsepower engine up to 203 hp thanks to a sports exhaust and a revamped ECU (46 horsepower from an ECU and exhaust in a naturally aspirated car?). To make the little Miata even more agile, Jota has also fiddled with the suspension. AE doesn't mention things like the grippy tires or Recaro seats that were found on the concept, though.

Mazda Hazumi Concept shows up ahead of Geneva

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Last week, Mazda officially teased its Geneva-bound Hazumi concept, showing little more than an aggressive headlamp design. But now, thanks to the magic of the Internet, another rendering of the Hazumi has appeared on the web, and, well, it's totes adorbs.
In Mazda's original release from last week, we were told that the name "Hazumi" means "spring up" or "bound" in Japanese, and is "particularly well-suited to a small car that appears to be bursting with energy." And now that we're getting a nearly full glimpse of the thing, we absolutely have to agree. The company's Kodo design language offers aggressive style in a cute little shape, and the usual raft of concept car-spec treatments (no mirrors, huge wheels, etc.) make it look even more comical and delightful.
Indeed, the Hazumi is understood to preview the next Mazda2 subcompact, and if this concept car points the way forward for Mazda's tiniest hatch, consider us totally geeked. Mazda is also set to debut its new 1.5-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine at the Geneva Motor Show next week, and while the company hasn't confirmed if that powerplant will make its way into the next Mazda2, it sure makes sense, at least overseas. Stay tuned.

Fiat reconsidering Mazda-based Alfa Romeo roadster? [w/poll]

Mon, 03 Mar 2014

Alfa giveth and Alfa taketh away. With apologies to Job (he has gone through a lot, after all), that's how things are looking at the Italian automaker - whether it's the promise of new products or its impending return to the North American market. But it's especially true when it comes to new roadsters.
While Alfa Romeo is expected to unveil the 4C Spider at the Geneva Motor Show this week, reports are now suggesting that its other roadster project is being called into question. That project is a joint venture between Fiat and Mazda, which was set to produce a version of its next MX-5 Miata as an Alfa Romeo, and was even changing the design to accommodate Alfa's requirements.
Now it appears, however, that the whole project in doubt. The problem seems to stem from Sergio Marchionne's pronouncements that, as long as he's in charge, there won't be an Alfa Romeo built outside of Italy.
