I am selling my 1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible. When I bought the car the plan was to fix it up but now with a baby on the way and we found a home we want to buy I have decided to sell it. I've had the car for about 2 months and I have put 2 new exhaust manifolds on it $900, 4 brand new window motors $500, new alternator and starter $500, AC compressor replaced $450 and have had the flap gear replaced $200 Car drives great and I just drove it for 100 mile run today. I really don't want to sell it but I have to do what I have to do. I am running this as a "no reserve" auction so the highest bidder gets it. If you need permission to buy it from the bank or your wife then get it before you bid. I just remembered the car has new tires on it also. The interior is worn but not torn, and the paint job is about a 15 footer. We found 2 small spots about the size of quarter that we fixed and touched up painted because we were getting ready to paint the car and have the interior done. Bottom line is that this is a great daily drive not a show car (not yet). It has tons of features such as tilt wheel, cruise control (needs fixing), AC, power windows even power vent windows which is kinda cool. also the dash has zero cracks in it. Buyer to purchase car as is, where is. I will not deliver it but I will make sure it gets on a transport that you arrange I need cash or cashier's check with in 48 hours of purchase. Call if you have questions. They are putting the AC compressor on now so if you want to see it you'll have to drive to the shop or I might have it back by then. Call me if you have questions Bob 863-815-8000 This car is also for sale locally so it might be gone. There is no "Buy it now" price unless your standing in front of me with cash so don't ask until you get there please. I would suggest that you ask questions and that you see it first. remember that you can call for anything.
On Sep-02-13 at 18:04:43 PDT, seller added the following information:
Also I forgot to mention that it has a newer top ( dark Blue) I'll get the pic tomorrow and post it. It is in excellent condition.
Thank you

Lincoln to resurrect old nameplates for China?
Wed, 04 Dec 2013Judging by the success that many luxury automakers are currently experiencing in China, it's no surprise that Lincoln plans to take advantage of the situation by peddling its wares across the Pacific. Lincoln will open its first Chinese dealership next year, but potential buyers there won't be mucking through the same alphabet soup of car names found in American showrooms. USA Today reports that Ford's luxury car division could revert back to legacy names (like Continental and Zephyr) in China while keeping the MK_ names here in North America.
In speaking to Ford exec Jim Farley during the LA Auto Show, USA Today says that Lincoln could switch its naming structure as models are refreshed. Farley didn't confirm that the naming revamp would be a China-only decision, but article leaves little hope that American buyers will get to see the return of classic names anytime soon.
Why would Ford rehash old Lincoln names for China only? Buyers there seem to have a better historical associations with the nameplates than in the US. Chinese also still hold Lincoln in high regard, associating the marque with use by prominent government officials.
Ford tumbles to second worst in Consumer Reports reliability survey, list dominated by Japanese [w/video]
Mon, 29 Oct 2012It's no secret that MyFord Touch has had its share of problems since being introduced, but the most recent reliability survey from Consumer Reports shows just how much this infotainment system has affected Ford. Just two years ago, the automaker was in the top 10 for the institute's reliability rankings, but since then, it has tumbled to the second-lowest rung just above dead-last Jaguar. In addition to MyFord Touch, CR also attributes a handful of new products that have had issues right out of the gate.
Compiled from 1.2 million subscriber surveys, this year's auto reliability survey heavily favors Japanese automakers, with eight of the 10 spots hailing from Japan. Toyota brands grabbed the top three spots (Scion, Toyota and Lexus - in that order) with Mazda, Subaru, Honda and Acura filling the next four spots. The only non-Asian automaker cracking the top 10 was Audi at number eight.
Audi climbed a total of 18 spots from last year, and Cadillac and GMC round out this year's top gainers breaking into the top 15. Helping Cadillac's upward movement, the CTS Coupe was named the most reliable domestic car. Lincoln, Volvo and Chrysler join Ford on this year's biggest loser list.
Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
