Location:

Aurora, Colorado, United States

Aurora, Colorado, United States

You are bidding on one of the most desirable of the classic Lincolns with a clear title. Western vehicle with no rust, runs well, drives, stops. This Lincoln is an excellent candidate for a full restoration or very little work needed for a cosmetic restoration to make an excellent weekend driver. Very desirable white exterior red leather interior color combination. Correct 430ci engine, starts every time, idles smooth, drives like floating on a cloud. Power retractable top works fine including power trunk deck. Undercarriage in good condition. All glass is intact and not broken. Serviceable interior with no cracks in dashboard and only minor blemishes in seat leather (can be reconditioned very inexpensively). This sale also includes a new matching carpet and black roof (not installed) +$1,000 value. As is typical with Lincolns from this era, this Continental has power everything including factory Air Conditioning. There are no missing chrome or stainless pieces.

The reserve on this Lincoln is set well below both Hagerty and NADA valuations for a Continental Convertible in this condition. Fully restored these Lincolns can easily sell for over $60,000.

This Lincoln does need a paint job and has only minor dents and dings (see photos). The power windows, locks, and switches also need some work, it may also need a power seat motor. All parts for these power components are readily available. The interior also will need minor reconditioning (e.g., the wood inlays need sanded and varnished or replaced). However, the difficult and expensive interior components are in good shape (leather seats, dash, door panels). The chrome does have normal wear with some pitting, but is mostly serviceable and presentable.

This is an as is sale with no warranty explicit or implied.

This beautiful 1963 Lincoln is located in suburban Denver. The buyer is responsible for shipping. I am happy to help with locating a qualified shipper, the buyer is responsible for all shipping costs.

This is an opportunity to own one of the most sought after of the classic Lincolns at a very reasonable price. Thank you for your interest and for looking.

Ford recalls 83k Taurus and crossover models for halfshaft issue

Fri, 15 Aug 2014

Ford and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have issued a recall for some 83,250 vehicles in the US, for an issue with halfshafts. More specifically a "halfshaft retention circlip" might not have been properly installed on affected vehicles, with the result being halfshafts that may move improperly or disengage completely from the linkshaft while driving. The NHTSA release also notes that the issue may occur "without prior warning" which obviously factors in to the timeliness of getting this checked.
Should the halfshaft disengage, a few troubling things could happen. If it occurs while driving, power from the engine will no longer be transmitted to the wheels. And, if the vehicle is parked without the parking brake applied after disengagement of the circlip, vehicles may roll away even if they're transmissions have been placed in "Park."
Affected vehicles are as follows: Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX crossovers from model years 2012 to 2014; Ford Taurus and Lincoln MKS sedans from model years 2013 to 2014; Ford Flex and Lincoln MKT vehicles from model years 2013 to 2014.

Ex-GM VP LaNeve takes over Lincoln ad agency

Wed, 10 Apr 2013

Those of you that caught yesterday's op-ed about Lincoln will have heard already, but Mark LaNeve has taken the helm at Team Detroit. Once the North American vice president of sales, service and marketing for General Motors, LaNeve will now head up the agency that handles all of Ford advertising. LaNeve will also run the account for Lincoln. While at GM from 2001 to 2009, the exec oversaw ad campaigns like Cadillac's Breakthrough and sales initiatives like "Employee Pricing for Everyone."
He left in 2009 to join Allstate as chief marketing officer, oversaw the creation of the Mayhem ad spots and was moved into the role of VP of agency operations overseeing Allstate's 10,000 agents. He resigned from the insurer in February 2012 for personal reasons and joined Team Detroit in August 2012 as chief operating officer, in charge of satellite offices in New York and internationally. He replaces ex-CEO Cameron McNaughton, and will continue to hold the title of COO.
Lincoln is trying to get its 2013 back to rights after putting big dollar commercials for the 2013 MKZ on television then having production glitches preventing cars from getting to dealerships. With rumors of a relaunch in the works, it's no surprise LaNeve has been given the reins - and from here it looks like the brand is desperate for the kind of magic he's proved he can marshal. Perhaps he can start by calling a mulligan on the renaming exercise that gave us the hoary "Lincoln Motor Company" and go back to oh, say, "Lincoln." Then he can ask the product folks to get to work on the MKC concept...
