This car was purchased by me here on ebay in October 2012 for $9000 (the pictures are gone but the item 130775842660 with the description from original seller is still available via search and it shows the VIN number). After examining the car (including running computerized diagnostics) my mechanic was very pleased with it - everything looked great, in fact he was surprised how well it was maintained by previous owner. It did not need anything - not even brakes or tires or other minor stuff you might expect to change when buying used car. The car passed inspection without any issues whatsoever. I only got to drive it a couple of times though. On October 29th it was flooded by Hurricane Sandy. The water came and went within hours so I don't know for sure how high it got but for the purpose of this auction I will assume 2-4 feet of salt water or whatever is enough to enter and compromise all systems. I did not attempt to start the car afterwards, it is still parked at the same spot were it was at the time it got flooded. I only vacuumed the water from the inside and spent some time air drying the interior. It was not done to conceal the fact that the car was flooded but to prevent mold and odors because I was told that otherwise all the uphostery would need to be replaced. It worked - the car does not have musty/moldy smell. However, I want to point out again -

I HAVE NOT TRIED TO START THE CAR, PLEASE ASSUME THAT IT DOES NOT RUN, IT WAS FLOODED BY SALT WATER DURING HURRICANE SANDY.

The title is clear.

The car will need to be picked up and towed by the buyer at their expense (from zip code 11224).

$200 deposit due within one day of the auction end.

Lexus RC media event in Japan canceled over lack of interest

It's a good thing senior editor Seyth Miersma doesn't live in Japan, or he wouldn't have been able to snap a photo like the one you see here, of a fresh-off-the-line Lexus RC F on hand at a first drive for media. That's because Toyota's Japanese arm has outright canceled its RC press launch. Sure, we've heard about events being delayed, but canceled? That's rare. Even worse is the reason: according to Automotive News, the event was nixed due to lack of interest. Wow.
In an email to media, Lexus said the event "has been canceled due to insufficient attendance," according to AN. The News posits that perhaps it would have just been better to hold the event anyway, in an attempt to save face, and that this is another example of the Japanese culture (especially youth) becoming less and less interested in cars. Of course, there's also the thought that local media just didn't want to drive out to Yokohama to drive the RC on a not-so-sexy press launch, which, if you ask us, is an incredibly lame excuse (do your jobs, folks!).
Either way, will this bode well for the Lexus RC's public launch? Will it receive the same lukewarm response when it arrives at Japanese dealers? We'll see.

Lexus reveals production RC coupe en route to Tokyo

Feast your eyes, ladies and gentlemen, on the new Lexus RC coupe. With the exception of the six-figure LFA supercar, it's the first stand-alone two-door model to come from Toyota's premium brand since the demise of the SC, and it's coming to the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.
With unmistakably Japanese styling, the Lexus RC is clearly inspired by the LF-CC and LF-LC concepts, and features the brand's signature spindle grille. Anyone who's been inside a contemporary Lexus should feel right at home inside the four-seat cabin, where the Japanese automaker has fitted ambient lighting that glows upwards instead of down, coupled with a new Remote Touch Interface.
Lexus has already announced two versions of the coupe: the conventional RC350 with a 3.5-liter gasoline engine and the RC300h with a 2.5-liter hybrid setup. It's all packed into a form that, for comparison's sake, is slightly larger than the new BMW 4 Series but markedly smaller (in every dimension but height) than a 6 Series.

Sometimes you come across a list of ingredients and you don't even need to know what's being made, you just know you need to be there when it's done. So if you saw a recipe for a Vimeo video that was one snow-covered frozen lake, one Lexus IS, four studded tires, two ice fisherman and one guy lounging on a couch, do you think you'd have any questions?
We didn't. The dish was cooked up by the Wide Open Drift Team and KSP Productions, and it's exactly what you'd think it is. Right down to the guy on the couch. We're glad we got to partake, and you can too in the video below.
