This Yellow 1994 D90 is hard to part with and is hands down the best handling Defender I've driven. Purchased in Kentucky in 2007, this truck is equipped with Old Man Emu Suspension, Front Brush Guard with Off-Road lights, good tires, and new Badger Coachworks Top (Tight Fitting).Like most Defenders 19 years old,"

Land Rover Defender 90, Yellow Exterior Paint with Gray Interior and a new Black Convertible Top. The Top is new and was purchased in 2010 from Badger Coachworks (the best). The top has seen only a few days of sun and has no fading. The Rover has been garage kept since I purchased it in 2008. The sound system is a marine grade CD Player & Tuner and newly installed marine grade speaker to replace the originals. The radio/CD Player is secured in the Tuffy Lock Box between the two front seats. The lock box also provides secure storage in the truck, especially while driving topless. It has A/C that was not an original factory option, Land Rover installed front off-road lights on a toggle switch, 2 XXXX batteries (under driver seat) quick release front windows with locking slides. The inside of the truck is DuPont lined, full Old Man EMU Suspension kit with front stabilizer, front brush guard, and a spare set of Mickey Thompson tires. This is the best handling and best driving Defender I drove. The old man EMU suspension also is a day and night difference in the handling and stability. It cruises on the highway at 75 MPH with no trouble at all.  Also, it has a tow hitch but no outlet for the light hook-up, so I never towed anything with it.

The vehicle is in good condition as it approaches 20 years of age.  Although the vehicle is aesthetically pleasing and a weekend head turner, it is not without its minor flaws.  It has a small ding/indentation on the right side by the headlamp and the driver's side window is in need of new threads or heli-coil for a tight fit when secured to the door.  I have a new set of stainless hardware (not installed) for the two windows.  I never installed because I never have the windows in the vehicle; only driving it in the spring through fall on nice days. Other areas show some age, but nothing on this truck is a deal breaker when researching the right D90 for you. It is a collector's truck and a project with limitless possibilities. The truck is number 959 of XXXX shipped to the United States for that model year.

Upgrades and Extras:
New Badger Coachworks Top
New Marine Grade Speakers - 4
Battery Replacement - 2 new installed in 2011
Electrical System ReWorked in 2011
Spare Set of MT Tires
Replacement Factory Mirrors (not installed)
Stainless Steel Hardware Kit for Window Mounting
All new door and window seals - Land Rover
New Gutter Kit for Soft Top - Installed
New Header Bar for Soft Top - Installed

Quick History: I purchased the Defender 90 at the end of 2008 on ebay from a seller in Paducah, KY. I purchased it with 87,750 miles and I drove it for about an additional 4,500 over the past 5 years.  I had no intention of ever looking to sell it, but my career and life demand change and liquidity when opportunities arise. In total, summing both service, parts, and additions- I've spent roughly $5-6G on the Rover.  The previous owner had the truck for 5 years and put about 10,000 weekend miles on the vehicle; opting to sell it when his daughter wanted to drive it.....no air bags.  The previous owner also made mention of a carfax note stating the vehicle was in a wreck; he researched and found out that a lady who bumped into his tow hitch at a traffic light called the police and reported it. He left with no damage to his vehicle. He also obtained a copy of the police report showing there was no damage to the Defender (I no longer have that report). Just FYI.

The vehicle is located in Bethlehem, PA.

Jaguar Land Rover building new Special Vehicle Operations facility

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department.
Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires.
The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."

Jaguar Land Rover building new R&D center for hybrids, EVs, autonomous cars

Wed, 25 Sep 2013

The success of Jaguar Land Rover in recent years has largely been down to a resurgent product lineup, but a recent move into the research and development will see the British-based, Indian-owned brands take the fight to its German rivals more aggressively than ever before.
JLR is investing 50 million pounds ($80,345,000, as of this writing) in a joint R&D center in central England. The move will more than triple its staff dedicated to research, from 150 to 500, with Wolfgang Epple, JLR's Director of Research and Technology telling Automotive News Europe, "In order to play among the big animals in automotive and to be anchored in the mind of customers you have to have offered something unique, to be first in market. We want to be one of the key premier automotive manufacturers."
Jaguar Land Rover's 50-million-pound contribution represents more than half of the 94-million-pound tab, on the so-called National Automotive Innovation Campus. Based at Warwick University, Tata's European Technical Center, Warwick Manufacturing Group and the Higher Education Funding Council, an agency of the British government, are all chipping in for the facility.
