This Land Rover is not only the straightest I have ever seen but also as original and unspoiled example of a 1983 you can find.  The mechanics show how well this Land Rover has been taken care of all these years.   The panels are unbelievable straight and the paint all appears to be original.  This car was bought from an estate in the UK and appears to have been very well cared for and used sparingly so has very low mileage.  This Land Rover is Diesel (2250 cc engine with new rings, bearings decoked head, and new injectors), 4 Wheel Drive, Right Hand Drive. Check the photos and you notice it seats 11. It looks great for her age and the engine was rebuilt a year ago. It is a rare model with a tropical roof with interior air vents. A lot of work has gone into keeping her in excellent shape. The frame and undercarriage are in great condition.  Some of the work done in the last few years is as follows; parabolic springs front and rear, Armstrong shocks, all Mintex Brake Wheels cylinders and brake lining changed, all copper brake pipes and 3 flex hoses, welded in foot wells and bulkhead outriggers, new diesel tank, Fairey O/Drive unit, New Rocky Mountain Oil Filter conversion, stainless steel exhaust, Aluminum Checker plate on wings and sills, all new bolts and washers on the Tropical Roof, replaced all exterior light assembly including headlights, new plastic headlight bowls (corrosion proof), all metal/rubber window channels replaced, two defender driving mirrors, a radio with two speakers installed in the vehicle, the panels are very straight and the list goes on and on. There is minimal rust which is so unusual for a vehicle of this age.  It has Land Rover side steps installed at all five doors. The brakes are a bit spongy which is common for this year vehicle.  I imported this vehicle from the UK and it is now registered in the State of Florida with a clear title.  EBAY doesn't recognize the UK Vin Number so the Vin Number is SALLBCMG1AA163301.  This Vin Number is on the Vin Plate under the hood. Over the recent years more money was invested in this Land Rover than what I am asking. These vehicles are known to sell upwards of $30,000 or more. It is also important to note that in the photos there is a new Bearmach Galvanized Roof Rack but that item will be sold separately or I can leave it on the vehicle for an additional $700 to the sale price. I did not go to the trouble of removing it as I wanted buyers to realize it is available. Any question just contact me.  When you receive this Land Rover a compound and wax will make this vehicle shine like a new penny. You can also inspect the Land Rover by making an appointment.  All sales are final and these no warrantee either implied or stated.

At the conclusion of the auction the buyer has 48 hours to wire $1000 as a downpayment and within 6 days the balance is to be wired.  Certified check/money orders are also fine.  I do not accept paypal or credit cards.  If the winner bidder doesn't contact the seller within 48 hours the seller has the right to relist the Land Rover.

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.

Jaguar to offer high-performance SVR models like Land Rover?

Tue, 01 Jul 2014

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed this past weekend, Land Rover previewed its upcoming performance version of the Range Rover Sport. Only instead of wearing the R-S badge that adorns the most hardcore of Jaguar models, the performance SUV from JLR's Special Operations unit introduced the letters SVR. And now, it seems that badge is here to stay.
Following the Range Rover Sport SVR, a new report from Motor Authority now says that Jaguar Land Rover will use those letters to distinguish the top-of-the-line performance models from both marques moving forward. As such, we might expect SVR models of the upcoming Jaguar XE compact sedan and Land Rover Discovery Sport, as well as potential new performance models based on the new F-Type and next-generation XF.
If accurate, the move would seem to separate Jaguar in particular from the R-S badge that has adorned performance models like the XFR-S and XKR-S. Both Audi and Porsche use the letters RS to distinguish its most hardcore models as well (e.g. Audi RS7 Sportback and Porsche 911 GT3 RS). Whether the similarity was a factor in shifting to the SVR moniker, we don't know, but either way, we welcome the arrival of a new generation of Jaguar and Land Rover performance models - especially if they pack the 575-horsepower version of the company's ubiquitous 5.0-liter supercharged V8. Not incidentally, that delicious powerplant gained a couple of new engine bays to call home at Goodwood as well - it's not just found in the forthcoming Range Rover Sport SVR, it's found a home in the F-Type Project 7, too.

This Or That: 1987 VW Vanagon Syncro vs. 1987 Land Rover Defender [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

As I scoured auction sites and classified ads for the perfect vehicle to take into battle with Autoblog Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, I knew I needed to find something unique. You see, I'm currently 0-2 at winning a round of This or That, in which two of our editors agree on a category, choose a side, and argue it out over a (mostly) friendly chain of emails.
The first time we did this, my chosen Fiat 500 Abarth took about a third of the popular vote in our reader poll. The second time, my lovely 1980 Oldsmobile 442 did just a little bit better against a 1989 BMW 635 CSi. Despite holding the opinion that my automotive choices, though perhaps a little bit more... obscure than my fellow editors, are still better, an outright win would go a long way toward boosting my vehicular self worth a few notches upward.
With all of that out of the way, even if three isn't my lucky number after all, I go into battle against Brandon knowing full well that I've made the perfect choice: A 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Syncro. My rough-and-tumble van/'ute has a formidable opponent in the form of a 1987 Land Rover Defender, which, truth be told, is exactly what I was expecting from Turkus, a self-proclaimed Rover aficionado.
