Up for auction is another great classic Defender Style Land Rover brought to you by Halberd Classics LLC, Classic Automobile Brokerage.
If you have been looking for a classic Land Rover to take adventuring or simply drive around town gaining attention, this is your Rover. Rarely will you find a classic Land Rover that has been customized for superior drivability and exploration capability. Most classic Land Rovers are slow, unreliable, and about as basic as possible. Not this amazing Rover. This Truck will take you anywhere you want to go and in comfort.
From the factory the US spec 109’s went 0-60 in 39.7 seconds. They topped out at under 60mph and were made for solely off-road and in town trips. This great Land Rover has upgraded to the 265hp fuel injected GM 4.1L engine, allowing the car to easily travel at highway speeds. The major boost in horsepower allows you to drive this Land Rover wherever you wish to go and tow everything from a boat, to a camper, to a simple utility trailer with ease. Being a very common American made motor, parts are readily available and much less expensive than the Land Rover parts. The motor has been overhauled, fires right up, and runs like a dream. Even after sitting for weeks, the engine starts with the first twist of the key. The freshly rebuilt transmission, transfer case, and axles are still the world renowned Land Rover off-road parts.
The suspension was upgraded to a Rocky Mountain Parabolic Spring System. This makes a world of difference both on and off-road. Better comfort on the road, and more axel travel off-road. The rims and tires were upgraded as well. This Land Rover sits on 4 BRAND new 32” Firestone Destination M/T tires, which are mounted on Rock Crawler Xtreme Steel wheels. This gives the Rover a slightly wider stance and certainly a meaner look.
To ensure that even with more horse power and bigger tires you never get stranded, a Custom steel winch bumper was made in California just for this truck. A Smittybilt 9,500lb winch was added, as well as 2 bumper mounted fog lights. This setup could literally pull down a house. The roof rack is an original Land Rover rack that has been shortened and repainted to match the bumper and rear access ladder. Four 100watt driving lamps were added to the front of the roof rack, and two 55watt flood lamps were added to the back. The lights are all controlled by the marine grade waterproof interior switch panel.
The interior was completely gutted, painted, and redone. With 5 waterproof bucket seats and two rear bench seats, this Rover is ready to take 9 passengers into and back out of even the harshest wilderness. A touch screen GPS Navigation, Cd, MP3, DVD, Radio, etc. head unit was installed. There is an iPod hookup which comes out of the dash, along with Bluetooth hookup for your smartphone. The flooring was made custom by the American Rubber Company out of commercial grade industrial black diamond print rubber. All of the flooring can easily be removed hosed down and put back in after long trips, or just hose it down while it is still in place. With the exception of the stereo, the entire interior is 100% waterproof. The seats, door panels, custom dash, etc. are all made out of Marine grade vinyl. For nighttime adventuring and exploring, white LEDs were added under the dash and two LED light fixture were added to the ceiling. Red LED strip lighting shines down on the gauges. With all of the interior work just completed recently, this Land Rover 109 truly has the new car smell that you would expect.
This is a two owner land rover, including every single receipt spent on the vehicle since 1967, when it was purchased new in California. The stack of paperwork is roughly 3 feet tall and includes everything back to the original window sticker.
No expense was spared in building this 1967 Land Rover 109 Series IIA Custom. Everything was thought out to provide the new owners with the perfect combination of superior off-road ability, reliability, and general comfort. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own a Classic Land Rover that has been restored and customized perfectly.

It's only been a couple of months since Jaguar Land Rover announced the formation of its new Special Operations division, and we've already seen a number of vehicles to come out of it. But now the British automaker has announced a new facility that will house its elite skunkworks department. Set to be built at Prologis Park in Ryton, England, on the outskirts of Coventry, the new Special Vehicle Operations Technical Centre will encompass dedicated production lines, F1-style flexible workshops, a dedicated paint studio and VIP suite for commissioning bespoke projects. JLR will spend some $33 million on the facility that will be home to 150 specialists - 100 of them being new hires. The first project which the Special Operations division is working on is the F-Type Project 7, but we've already seen more projects in the pipeline - including the upcoming Range Rover Sport SVR - and you can bet there'll be more. The revival of the Lightweight E-Type also falls under Special Operations, but is undertaken by the Jaguar Heritage department located nearby at Browns Lane.

Jaguar Land Rover is getting serious about global expansion, and that means it can't only build its vehicles in the UK anymore. The British automaker is cutting the ribbon at its new plant in China tomorrow, marking the opening of its first factory outside the UK. In 2016, it will open another factory in Brazil. But the latest intel has it that JLR is looking into a US factory, as well. The report, which comes to us from the Sunday Times by way of Automotive News Europe, indicates that the company is evaluating locations for a North American factory, with options centering around Southern right-to-work states like South Carolina, where BMW operates its plant in Spartanburg and a wide array of other automotive operations are based as well. The JLR plant would reportedly ramp up to a capacity of 200,000 units per year. In related news, while that new plant JLR is inaugurating in Changshu, China, is initially slated to produce the Range Rover Evoque, it is also expected to start building the new Discovery Sport as well - just like the Halewood plant in the UK that has handled Evoque assembly from the start and which just built its first Discovery Sport, as well.

The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports. The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS. "If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."
