1969 Jeep Jeepster Commando C101

This is a trail rig to end all trail rigs... or for just bumping around town. It has a strong running 225 c.i. Dauntless V6 that is clean and well maintained. Has Dana 27 and Dana 44.Oil pressure is spot-on and fires right up from a cold start. This Jeepster has a TH400 Auto transmission. The auto trans was installed by a 4x4 shop which replaced the original three speed T-14. I still have the manual transmission and it comes with the Jeep, flywheel included. The clutch is still intact so you have a choice. The transmission has an aftermarket oil cooler.
The spring over axle lift was professionally done and is super stable with newer leaf springs, shackles and dual shocks all around. The new duel exhaust is from Flowmaster and sounds tough. The high quality 4bbl 470 cfm Holley Truck Avenger carburetor was professionally and fully rebuilt (looks brand new) two weeks ago and sits atop of an Offenhauser intake. The body and floors are in great shape for its age. There is one small hole through the drivers side floor and one small hole through the passenger side (see pics). There is minor spotting of rust at the bottom leading edge of the drivers door and one small rust hole through the side of the hood. The bed and tailgate are good with minimal surface. The tailgate is in great shape with a about an inch of separation from its hinge on the inside but the rest is solid and ready for paint. ALL of these are extremely easy to fix with the right tools. Any other rust is superficial and merely surface. It will clean up very easily and nicely before paint. This body, floor pan, and tailgate are collectively cleaner than most I have seen . The frame and underbody were Rinolined years ago which has kept it in amazing shape and unequivocally solid with no rust to speak of. The duel shocks on each corner are fresh (despite some surface discoloration on some). The doors are not original and are from a 70 but are in good condition. All the glass is intact and nice except for the windshield. The rubber around the doors in window slot need replaced.
I have a windshield ready to be installed at my cost at a local shop that specializes in windshield of this nature. I had the alternator tested when I replaced the battery last week and it passed, The battery is new and warrantied for 3 years. The tonneau cover is custom and you will not find many like it out there. It has a solid tow hitch with a two inch receiver. A hefty roll bar comes with the Jeep. The 33 inch BFGs are in good shape and have about 50% tread left. This Commando does need a few things i.e. wiring harness for rear lights and blinkers, front bumper, horn, and some odd and ends like glove box insert, windshield wiper blades etc. It will not take much to make it an unbeatable beautiful Jeep. I have contacts for many of these and other miscellaneous items for a Commando.
Why go with a CJ-5 or CJ-7 like everyone else, Go Commando and you will have a unique piece of Jeep history.

NOTE: The wheels you see here are being sandblasted and I will update photos Wednesday. They are in great shape but needed some cleaning up. New lug nuts are waiting their completion and they will be ready for you to paint any color you so choose.

*I will help facilitate shipping this Jeep at buyers cost and can give you the name and number to a reputable transport company. I will also assist in loading it.

Please ask all questions necessary BEFORE bidding and before the auctions end.

Do not hesitate to ask questions or request a specific picture. You can also PM for my cell and we can talk more about it prior to the auctions end. It is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early even if reserve is met.

Thanks and good luck!

Dodge and Jeep recalling 895k SUVs for possibility of headliner fires

Fri, 11 Jul 2014

Dodge and Jeep are announcing recalls of a total of 895,000 Durango and Grand Cherokee models worldwide from the 2011 through 2014 model years. There's a possibility that the wiring in the sun visor can short circuit and cause a fire. It specifically affects vehicles built between January 5, 2010, and December 11, 2013, and there are approximately 651,000 of them in the US, 45,700 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico and 175,000 outside of North America.
Screws that fasten the sunvisor to the headliner may pierce wires in the visor, if the part has been removed or serviced, potentially causing a fire risk. If the wires short circuit, they could overheat and potentially combust. The automakers report three injuries caused by this defect, and according to the investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, "there may be a total of 52 unique fire incidents."
To fix the problem, Dodge and Jeep will inspect the vehicles for suspect wiring, and all of the models, whether damaged or not, will get a new sun visor spacer with a wire guide to stop the possibility of short circuits. According to the automakers' announcement, "this condition is not present in vehicles which have not had the headliner or vanity mirror serviced." They will notify affected owners, and repairs will begin in August.

Jeep Grand Cherokee in headliner fire probe

Fri, 23 Aug 2013

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching an investigation into 146,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2012 model year, The Detroit News reports. This comes as the result of the government safety agency receiving three complaints from owners who cited fires inside the Jeep's cabin.
According to the report, NHTSA says:
"The customers reported a burning odor and visible smoke coming from the headliner while the vehicle was being driven. This was followed by flames from the headliner itself. Customers lowered the windows in an effort to clear the smoke but this increased the fire's intensity. All three vehicles had to be extinguished with a fire extinguisher or by the fire department as they continued to burn after the vehicle was turned off."
