New Tires & Shocks But Damage From Accident on 2040-cars
Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport 154k miles USED SELLING AS IS. Three weeks ago I was hit by someone backing up on an interstate exit as he was trying to avoid hitting the person in front of him. Up for bid is my 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport Classic that had been damaged by a collision and DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS by the insurance company. I am selling this vehicle, USED AS IS. IT WILL HAVE A SALVAGE TITLE IN THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA. I have a normal title in my possession, but it will soon be changed to a salvage title by the State of North Carolina, if you buy it and register it in the State of North Carolina. You can contact the North Carolina DMV at 919-861-3500 to get more information on Salvage Titles or contact the DMV in your state to do your research on a Salvage Title. I purchased this 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport Classic in May of this year. I had new tires & shocks put on as well as plugs, plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, serpentine belt, hoses, & battery, etc. I have receipts for all work done totaling $1,667.37. The red paint still looks beautiful. The Jeep idles rough – may need a fuel flush – no check engine codes are showing. All interior is in good shape – small cigarette burn in passenger seat. The hydraulics on the hatch door do not work and need to be replaced. The automatic locks don't work. The a/c works (squeaks), not sure about the heater – too hot here to tell. The quote for damages to repair that I was given by Folger Collision Center in Charlotte, NC is for $2,243.53. I have that quote and I will give it to the buyer. Please feel free to e-mail me with questions. Thanks for looking! :)

Updated 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee ace same controversial moose test it failed in 2012 [w/video]
Thu, 02 Jan 2014Some background: one of the more scandalous international incidents of he-said/he-said from 2012 was when Swedish magazine Teknikens Varld put the Jeep Grand Cherokee through its "moose (or elk) test" and reported that the SUV nearly rolled over. That lead to a whole lot of accusations and rebuttals: more than one website and Chrysler's own blog reported that the Jeep was overloaded; Chrysler said Teknikens printed the magazine then let Chrysler respond, Teknikens answered all of the charges in a lengthy post and said Chrysler was given a chance to comment before it went to print; when Chrysler sent investigators to oversee the test and the Jeep didn't go up on two wheels as it did in the first test, furthermore all four wheels stayed on the ground when Auto Motor und Sport tested a Grand Cherokee in the same way.
Teknikens then re-ran the test with a new vehicle and said it's been doing this test since the 1970s, uses the loading information that Chrysler provides to the Swedish motor authority and the previous Grand Cherokee passed with no problem. In the second test, the Jeep failed again, then it gave Chrysler engineers access to the car's electronics and ran the test again. In that second round the Grand Cherokee didn't repeat the lurid two-wheel action, but in eleven runs it blew out front left tire seven times. Chrysler still objects to the results of all of those tests and maintains that vehicle was safe.
The 2014 Grand Cherokee was given its shot at the gauntlet in the latest round of moose tests, and Teknikens Varld reports that it passed without any problem at all, its stability control working perfectly, controlling motion at low speeds and all the way up to 44.1 miles per hour. You can watch the video of the new test and read the press release from the magazine on the updated Grand Cherokee below.
Watch this Jeep Willys return to its birthplace after 70 years
Sun, 23 Jun 2013Earlier this month, a very significant Jeep was celebrated at the Toledo North Assembly plant. No, it wasn't the upcoming reincarnation of the Jeep Cherokee, but instead it was a 1943 Willys MB that visited the Toledo grounds where it had been built exactly 70 years ago to the day.
Of course, the actual building where the MBs rolled off the assembly line before heading to Europe for World War II no longer exists, but that didn't stop Italian owner Vittorio Argento from having the vehicle shipped to the US to make its trek back to its birth place. According to Chrysler, Argento's MB is still 95-percent original and it drove 1,000 miles from New Jersey to Toledo.
The whole adventure was chronicled on a blog aptly named A Jeep Comes Home. Scroll down for a brief video from Chrysler and for some photos of the Toledo visit and be sure to read more at Argento's blog.
Jeep Grand Cherokee in headliner fire probe
Fri, 23 Aug 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching an investigation into 146,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from the 2012 model year, The Detroit News reports. This comes as the result of the government safety agency receiving three complaints from owners who cited fires inside the Jeep's cabin.
According to the report, NHTSA says:
"The customers reported a burning odor and visible smoke coming from the headliner while the vehicle was being driven. This was followed by flames from the headliner itself. Customers lowered the windows in an effort to clear the smoke but this increased the fire's intensity. All three vehicles had to be extinguished with a fire extinguisher or by the fire department as they continued to burn after the vehicle was turned off."
