1998 Jaguar Vanden Plas Base Sedan 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Bloomfield, New Jersey, United States
I purchased the vehicle a couple of years ago with a blown engine & slight accident damage to the left front. The previous owner had the transmission rebuilt & not too long after the nicasil cylinder lining on the engine block gave out. Because of that the engine had no compression & would not run. I bought the car because I always liked the long wheel base Vanden Plas but unfortunately I can't afford to keep it. I had an extra 2002 XJ8 engine with bad valves, so I rebuilt the short block from the 02 engine & had the cylinder heads rebuilt from the original engine. i also installed all new timing chains & guides with upgraded metal tensioners. The engine also has the 2002 high volume oil pump which actually squirts oil on the timing chain. As far as the body damage, which was only very minor, I bought a used left front fender & front bumper, the fender was already blue but the bumper needed to be painted. I should have painted the fender because after time passed the clear coat is starting to peel a little bit. The right rear quarter has a little bit of rust, which probably can be repaired fairly easy. The interior is in very good shape. All of the seats are in nice condition, there is no tears in the leather. The rear headliner is sagging but is held up with some straight pins. I removed the factory radio & installed a Pioneer DVD, Navigation & iPod head unit. Normally you can't fit a double din radio into this dash, so I had to customize the opening to make it fit & look factory. In my opinion it looks excellent. |

Autoblog Podcast #327:
50th Anniversary Porsche 911 vs. Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a battle of beauty, brawn
Fri, 13 Jun 2014There can't really be a loser between the Jaguar F-Type Coupe R and the Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. One might be better than the other, but if you're behind the wheel of either of them, you can't complain. In a new video, Motor Trend takes on the difficult task of determining which one of these European powerhouses is the best, not just in terms of raw performance, but also how they actually feel to drive.
The Porsche 911 is one of the perennial favorites of the motoring world. It just doesn't go away and always seems capable of challenging the top vehicles in its class. In this video, Motor Trend takes a look at the 50th Anniversary Edition model that celebrates that heritage while boosting power somewhat over the standard version.
The F-Type Coupe is an incredibly masculine car, MT describing it as "a British Corvette." The coupe's exterior lines are tautly stretched over its athletic body, and it's supercharged 5.0-liter V8 sounds like a demon's growl. Jaguar seems to have things right with its latest sports car.
Jaguar F-Type 'Design Study' headed to Goodwood
Mon, 08 Jul 2013With the Goodwood Festival of Speed taking place this weekend, Jaguar has announced it will be there with its new trio of R models as well as a design study version of the hot new F-Type sports car. While we've already seen the XFR-S last year at the LA Auto Show and the XJR and XKR-S GT at the New York Auto Show, the F-Type design study has our attention.
Based on our recent sighting of a fixed-roof F-Type being tested in full camouflage, this could mean that we'll finally get to see a sexy F-Type Coupe in near-production form. Of course, with all of the other R branded models on display, Jaguar could also unveil a sporty new R - or maybe even an RS - F-Type roadster. Whatever is planned, it will not be a static display - Jaguar says the design study car will be in action, making the fabled run up Goodwood Hill with chief engineer Mike Cross at the wheel. Scroll down for more information about what Jaguar has planned for Goodwood.
