2003 Jaguar Vanden Plas Base Sedan 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Utica, Michigan, United States
Here is an opportunity to own the last of the real breed of Jaguars. This is an absolutely beautiful last year example of the iconic XJ (308) Vanden Plas. This car has been extremely well maintained and is current on all maintenance, including new spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, serpentine belt, 4-wheel alignment, breather system cleaning and injection system cleaning. Within the last 500 miles the following work has been performed: all four shocks were replaced, new General Altimax 225/60R16 tires, coolant crossover piper (coolant flushed), transmission completely overhauled (valve body rebuilt, reinforced front drum which is the weak point in these transmissions, factory pentosin fluid used), headliner reupholstered, several pieces of wood veneer sent out for sun cracking repair, new battery, new trunk struts, new floor mats. This car does not have the problematic nikasil engine, only steel lined engines were used in 2003. This engine came from the factory with the last revision timing components, the earlier generation tensioners were prone to failure. This car has a beautiful and somewhat rare color combination. Factory Alpine sound system with recently replaced rear subwoofer. There is some wear on the driver seat leather as to be expected from a 11 year old car, the center console leather has some wear however I have a replacement piece of leather that will be installed prior to sale. There are no warning lights or performance issues, this car drives as it did from the day it left the factory. Current high end luxury cars would be hard pressed to drive as nice as this car. I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the country. Buyer will be responsible to arrange shipping or pick up. I have car listed locally and reserve the right to cancel the auction early if it sells here. This vehicle has no warranty, expressed or implied. Thank you for looking!

Ian Callum, Brian Johnson and Lord March pick 10 top Jaguars
Thu, 11 Sep 2014An automaker with as rich a heritage as Jaguar is bound to create a few experts along the way... and some divergent opinions, too. So on the eve of the debut of the new XE, Jaguar brought together three experts to whittle down the long list of classic Leaping Cats to just ten.
For this gargantuan task, it brought in Ian Callum (who, as the company's chief designer, knows a thing or two about Jaguars), Lord Charles Henry Gordon-Lennox (the Earl of March and founder of the Goodwood Revival) and Brian Johnson - who may be better known as the frontman of AC/DC, but also a classic car enthusiast, collector and racer in his own right.
So what did the designer, the nobleman and the celebrity choose? The SS100, XK120 (namely number NUB 120), the C-Type that competed at the 1953 Mille Miglia, the D-Type that won at Reims, the Mk II sedan, the E-Type that served as the Geneva show car, the one and only XJ13, company founder Sir William Lyons' personal XJ6 S1, the TWR XJS touring car and the 1988 Le Mans-winning XJR-9.
Jaguar lets first outsiders drive new F-Type
Mon, 17 Dec 2012What do you do when you're an automaker with an all-new and brand-defining sports car, one of them with a supercharged V8 cranking out 495 horsepower? You let proven race drivers test them out on track and on the road.
And what do you do if you're Jaguar and you're in that situation? Why, naturally, you make a video of it. That's how we get footage of racers Martin Brundle, Justin Bell and Christian Danner being choppered into the UK's Snetterton track to test the V6-equipped Jaguar F-Type S prototype. Then when they're finished with kerb-lined apexes, they take the V8 S prototype out onto the roads to run it through hedge-lined apexes.
According to one of them, "very fast, very nimble, great engine" is what will soon be headed our way. Check it out in the video below.
Jaguar Project 7 Concept
Mon, 26 Aug 2013The Jaguar Project 7 Concept debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just last month. But unlike most concepts, which serve only to collect fingerprints on a stage, the track-ready one-seater spent its days barreling past the hillclimb crowds with Mike Cross, chief engineer of vehicle integrity at Jaguar, beaming behind its right-hand-drive steering wheel. What's more, the powers that be at Jaguar even let yours truly drive the Project 7 during the Concurs d'Elegance festivities at Pebble Beach last week.
Built on an all-aluminum V8 F-Type chassis with modified suspension, the Project 7 (a name acknowledging Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins between 1951-1990) is best thought of as an F-Type masquerading as a D-Type. The two-door is fitted with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 good for 550 horsepower (no pictures as Jaguar wouldn't allow us to open the hood). An eight-speed automatic, with a torque converter, sends the power the rear wheels, allowing the single-seat roadster to crack the 60-mph benchmark in just over four seconds.
Modifications to the bodywork include a new lowered windshield, carbon-fiber aerodynamics and a rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop. The driving position has also been lowered by more than an inch, allowing the sole occupant to not only escape the airflow, but take advantage of a lower center of gravity.
