You are bidding on a 1990 Jaguar Vanden Plas XJ 4 door sedan. There is a reserve price. Local pick up preferred and I will ship to the United States only. You must make the arrangements. The winning bidder has 48 hrs to make a $200 deposit into my PayPal acct. and up to 7 days to complete the transaction. (Balance paid in full and title transferred. Possibility of transferring the classic plate to the buyer for a standard fee.) Here's a brief history about the car: My wife and I purchased the car 2 years ago with the intention of fixing it up as a "touring" vehicle for car shows, etc. So for the last 2 years it was mostly stored in our garage while I worked on it in my spare time. We did road test it a few times but only put about 30 miles on it. It has 166K miles on it but as you can see from the pics it still looks great! The major "P.I.T.A." job that I did was to replace the headliner! It turned out nice and matches the original. The rest of the interior is in fine condition showing normal wear. I purchased door weather seals but did not change them. I went over the entire car and found no serious wear or problems with the engine, transmission, brakes, exhaust, suspension and steering components except for the steering pump. The pump does not work after I dis-assembled it to replace the seal and gaskets. What I believe happened is I probably installed the pump impeller backwards, because the P/S worked prior to my work. I also replaced most of the power steering hoses, A/C hoses, A/C receiver/dryer, battery and serviced the transmission. That being said, this Jaguar needs someone to take over where I left off. It does run great, has lots of power and I have driven it recently the way it is, but it steers VERY hard. I suppose you could drive it home at your own risk but I would recommend towing it or moving it by trailer. The PA state inspection sticker is not current. It does have a "PA Classic Plate" which can be transferred to a PA buyer if needed. This car is being sold "AS IS, WHERE IS" and I will not warranty or guarantee anything except that you can start it up and drive it. Please refer to the condition description for additional info. Jaguar XE promises to net 'over 75 mpg,' just not for us [w/video]
Tue, 29 Jul 2014With around a month away from its world debut on September 8, Jaguar continues to issue a constant drip of updates about its upcoming XE compact luxury sedan that's aiming to take on the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. Where the company's last bit of info focused on the car's suspension setup, this time Jag's putting the spotlight on the new model's modular platform and making some big promises about it, too. How big? Try over 75 miles per gallon big.
That's the headline figure that Jaguar is claiming for its new sedan, but it's keeping mum on just what powertrain will realize that figure. Furthermore, that result is on the European test cycle, which is more lenient than America's EPA testing regime. In any case, when the XE hits the road, Jag says it will be the most efficient vehicle from the company, ever.
That's thanks in no small part to the aluminum-intensive monocoque chassis underpinning the sedan. It's constructed from a new grade of the lightweight metal called RC 5754 that uses a high portion of recycled material. "The Jaguar XE body uses over 75-percent aluminum content, which far exceeds any other car in its class. This gives us a body structure with unrivaled low weight: it's light but also immensely strong with extremely high levels of torsional stiffness," said Dr. Mark White, Jaguar Chief Technical Specialist; Body Complete.
Jaguar Project 7 Concept
Mon, 26 Aug 2013The Jaguar Project 7 Concept debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed just last month. But unlike most concepts, which serve only to collect fingerprints on a stage, the track-ready one-seater spent its days barreling past the hillclimb crowds with Mike Cross, chief engineer of vehicle integrity at Jaguar, beaming behind its right-hand-drive steering wheel. What's more, the powers that be at Jaguar even let yours truly drive the Project 7 during the Concurs d'Elegance festivities at Pebble Beach last week.
Built on an all-aluminum V8 F-Type chassis with modified suspension, the Project 7 (a name acknowledging Jaguar's seven Le Mans wins between 1951-1990) is best thought of as an F-Type masquerading as a D-Type. The two-door is fitted with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 good for 550 horsepower (no pictures as Jaguar wouldn't allow us to open the hood). An eight-speed automatic, with a torque converter, sends the power the rear wheels, allowing the single-seat roadster to crack the 60-mph benchmark in just over four seconds.
Modifications to the bodywork include a new lowered windshield, carbon-fiber aerodynamics and a rear fairing with integrated rollover hoop. The driving position has also been lowered by more than an inch, allowing the sole occupant to not only escape the airflow, but take advantage of a lower center of gravity.
Motor Trend pits Aston V12 Vantage S against Jaguar XKR-S GT in battle of the Brits
Fri, 20 Dec 2013With the recent increase in higher-performance versions of already high-performance vehicles, like Mercedes-Benz and its AMG Black Series, the public is now gaining even greater access to speed and maneuverability. Two of the most recent sports cars to get their wicks turned up include the Jaguar XKR-S GT and the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S.
Both of these cars are the pinnacles of their lines, with the Jag lording over the XKR-S, XKR and XK while the Aston rules over the standard V8 Vantage S and V8 Vantage. Motor Trend has opted to pit the two rivals together for some thorough testing, and it just happened to bring along a few video cameras to capture all the action.
