2006 Hyandai Elantra As Is Needs Engine Repair/reman on 2040-cars
Baton Rouge, Louisiana, United States
I am selling, AS IS and in its entirety my 2006 Hyundai Elantra Gold Edition Sedan. It has less than 85k miles and I've owned it for less than three years. In that time it has undergone many repairs and replacements from timing belts to starters and alternators. Most recently I've had the radiator and three tires replaced. At some point though the engine ran hot and they're telling me its seized. I no longer wish to put any more money into it but from what I was told a remanufactured engine could be installed for 3500 dollars. I'm sure it could last for several more years with a new engine but I have neither the money nor inclination to get one.
Everything else in the car works great. I've had no problems with any of the features; power locks/windows, cruise control, stereo everything is fine. Except the front seat center console has a broken latch. It still works but its just the top part of the console doesn't lock down. When I got the car I bought a third party stereo system, not much just a CD Player/iPod hookup deal from Best Buy. |

Autoblog Podcast #317:
Incident between Russian driver and biker escalates rather quickly
Sat, 24 May 2014Based on the compiled evidence, driving in Russia is a perilous, potentially deadly venture that requires complete and total suspension of one's self-preservation instincts. Considering this, you can imagine what it's like riding a motorcycle on the notoriously wild Russian roads.
The unfortunate biker that is the subject of today's video found out the hard way. It looks like he attempted to split the lanes, and another driver took offense, sandwiching the biker (is that a Goldwing?) in the process. As you can guess by our handy headline, things deteriorate rapidly from there.
Take a look below for the full scene.
2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo: February 2013
Mon, 25 Feb 2013I just couldn't bring myself to lead this post with the image you see on the right. The winter months have not been kind to our matte gray 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, and since you can't just run the thing through your local car wash, our oddly shaped little hatchback has spent more days dirty than clean. It breaks my fleet manager heart to see one of our test cars covered in schmutz so frequently, but let's be honest - the last thing anyone wants to do when it's 12 degrees Fahrenheit outside is play with a hose and spend a good amount of time hand-washing a car.
Moral of the story: If you live in a cold-weather state where you expect to get regular doses of the white stuff, matte paint probably isn't for you. Not to worry, though, as the Veloster Turbo is offered in plenty of pretty, car wash-friendly colors.
We'll have a lot more to talk about regarding the Veloster's cleanability in forthcoming updates, and we're even planning a trip to the Dr. Beasley's office - the company that created the special matte paint detailing kit for the Hyundai - to have their experts show us how it's done. For now, let's spend some time talking about what we've learned about the turbocharged hatch during its honeymoon phase here in the Autoblog Garage.
