Ride with style on the road, the beach, the desert or up the side of a hill. If you've been thinking about a nice Hummer this is it! Black leather, gray headliner and gray rugs are in immaculate condition. Exterior has no issues and is all original. Chrome nerf side steps, power sunroof, "Life is Good" spare tire cover and tow receiver, wiring all in excellent condition. Tires have some wear but still plenty of tread. Spare is brand new. This is a one of a kind that they do not make anymore for passenger vehicles. Hummers are still a staple of the military fleet. 5 cylinder gas engine, as all H3's were. It's got plenty of power, tons of torque and a really nice ride on the highway. We averaged 21 miles to the gallon, in 4 high, city and highway. It tows like a dream and although I never tried you could probably pull a good sized tree stump out of the ground in 4 low-locked. Reason for sale; bought a new Honda Passport and with wife's car, boat, trailer, motorcycles we are becoming insurance and tag poor. We are in Salisbury, Maryland so transaction and delivery would have to occur here. There is no warranty offered or needed. Payment would require $1000.00 deposit in Pay Pal, within 2 days of auction end, with balance in cash, cashier or certified check when delivery is taken. No exceptions! Once sale is completed there is no return allowed. The pictures aren't the best as they somehow picked up a blue tint (Don't call me for your photography work!) but it is exactly as described. This is an exceptionally nice Hummer H3 and should give you years of service if maintained properly. This is also for sale, locally, and will be sold if a buyer shows up. It is priced at $15,900.00 locally.

Humvee reborn on the battlefield... with a chimney?!

Fri, 09 Dec 2011

The military's High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), better known to most of us as the Humvee, has already served a long and distinguished career in the battlefield, and there have been a number of replacements waiting in the wings to take over where the HMMWV left off. Or, should we say, leaves off... assuming that ever happens.
It seems that the Humvee is set to get a new lease on life as military budget constraints are forcing the government to reconsider its replacement. But there are still some pesky safety issues to work out before American soldiers will feel comfortable inside the confines of the off-road box on wheels.
As you're likely aware, improvised explosive devices are an ever-increasing threat to the lives of American troops serving overseas. The Humvee, which traces its design all the way back to the year 1984 when it first saw duty as a replacement for the long-running series of military Jeeps, has seen a number of incarnations over the years that added armor and improved safety, but the latest version may feature something hitherto unseen: a chimney.

Out With A Bang: Hummer dealer giving away free shotgun with every new vehicle purchase

You've heard of art imitating life? Well how about life imitating war? That's another story entirely, but not so far fetched when it comes to the Hummer. The sport-'ute that met the public eye during Operation Desert Storm has all but completely gone through its entire life cycle in the intervening years: first as a military-only vehicle, the original model became available to the public, then GM bought the rights and started churning out pickup-based H2s and H3s, the U.S. armed forces went back Iraq, the original H1 was discontinued and now GM is preparing to wind down the brand entirely. But not before one last pistol-shootin' hoorah, courtesy of the one dealership that arguably sees the truck for what it is more than any other: Lynch Hummer.
The St. Louis-area franchise made headlines last year when they started filling their emptying showroom with gun racks, selling firearms to make up for dwindling sales in the gigantic SUVs. Now the dealership is connecting the dots with a one-of-a-kind promotion: Buy a Hummer, get a free shotgun.

SEMA 2010: Zero South Biodiesel Electric Hummer shows its guts

Zero South Biodiesel Electric Hummer - Click above for high-res image gallery
Zero South, a company that popped up at SEMA in 2008, is back again with its Biodiesel Electric Hummer. The heavily modified H1 rides on tracks at all four corners - a necessary modification, since this Hummer is designed for an expedition to the South Pole.
The trip is going to be documented by Chris Paine, who's best known for the film Who Killed the Electric Car? It was reported back in 2008 that the vehicle was going to be driven by Buzz Aldrin and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. The film is called Drive Around the World and was shot in 3D. Drive Around the World is also the name of an organization that works to inspire an urge to explore while raising money for various charities. The H1 shown above is Zero South's vehicle for participating in these expeditions.
