1993 Honda Civic Si Hatchback 3-door 1.6l Fully Built And Turbocharged on 2040-cars
Miami, Florida, United States
This may look like just an OEM 93 Si Hatchback but it is really one of the cleanest 1993's on the market. It has also been fully upgraded both inside and out. This car was worked on as a project care and no expense has been spared. No detail has been overlooked on this car while maintaining its OEM appearance. A full list is included below for your consideration. All custom audio work was completed professionally including original JDM double din parts from overseas. Custom fiberglass A pillars support new tweeters as well as digital engine gauges. The engine block was removed machined, sleeved and fully rebuilt with new pistons and rods with the addition of the Garrett turbocharger. A full head job has been performed. Transmission was upgraded with a performance clutch, Quaife differential and carbon synchronizers. The upgrades are all listed below. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. This car is daily drivable but feels like it is straight off the lot with an extra 200 HP onboard! A/C was rebuilt and now blows ICE cold. High end Radar/ laser detectors system from Escort include with custom install ( SEE PIC). If Honda could have build this car affordably with these upgrades (which is unfortunately impossible) its what they would have produced in 1993. While I by no means expect to get it back, over $30,000 was spent on this build including electronics. Less than 2,500 miles on the rebuilt engine. Car has never been tracked.
** One note: Some picks show a black edelbrock intake manifold and aftermarket throttle body. While these looked good, the car did not run well with them on and the original OEM throttle body and intake were replaced with improved performance. So those two items are no longer on the car and are not listed below*** Exterior: JDM Front Lip- SIR style OEM Front and Rear Mud Flaps Replace OEM hood emblem Interior: JDM Armrest JDM Double din console Window TINT NEW OEM Floormats Suspension: Front sway bar-Eibach 26mm delivered Rear Say bar-ASR Rear subframe brace- ASR Rear and front strut tower braces- PSWD JDM Rear Lower control arms- PSWD JDM Rear control arm bushings- Hardrace Coilovers- AMR Rear Camber arms, toe links, sway links- PSWD JDM Front Camber Arms- Buddy Club DIY Transmission: Rebuilt tranny, Carbon Synchronizers, Quaife LSD, performance clutch Competition Clutch stage 4 Short shifter and custom shit knob- TMW Engine:(All engine work done by inline performance, springfield Virginia) 75.5 mm Vitara Pistons Eagle Rods ACL Bearing Set ARP Head Studs Head gasket Springs n retainers (in line pro) Performance radiator Bosch high performance aftermarket alternator 675CC Injectors OE 4 Bar Map Sensor Go Autoworks D Street Kit w/ 3" flared downpipe Exhaust: Thermal R&D exhaust complete 3in Brakes: SS Brake lines-goodridge Cross drilled slotted rotors- PSWD JDM Hawk HPS pads Wheels/Tires: 15x7 O.Z. Acura ILX headed for Civic-like early upgrades
Wed, 12 Dec 2012The not-yet-ready-for-primetime 2012 Honda Civic saw it quickly returned to sender for refurbishment, now the Acura ILX is headed in the same direction in its very first year. Automotive News reports that the small, Civic-based sedan from Honda's luxury brand isn't meeting sales expectations, with an annualized rate of 22,000 to 24,000 sales instead of the 30,000 the company is after. More telling is that the ILX "is being outsold by the Buick Verano, Volkswagen CC and Audi A4," and, except for two months since it launched, it has also been outdone by the Acura TSX it is meant to replace.
Part of the cause has been the 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine: its 150 horsepower to motivate a sedan that can weigh up to 2,970 pounds doesn't offer the kind of performance or value experience that buyers in the segment respond to. Another big issue is that the top-level 2.4-liter engine is only offered with a six-speed manual even though most buyers of the highest trim don't really want to shift their own gears. Lastly, the ILX might not put enough space between it and its frugal underpinnings - our first drive review pegged it as "the world's nicest Honda Civic."
An automatic transmission is on the way for the 2.4-liter, but it isn't clear when. And while Honda admits that the 2.0-liter is underpowered and Automotive News says it's on the way out, the company hasn't yet said how that situation will be corrected.
Watch these guys creatively cover No Diggity in a Honda Civic
Mon, 17 Feb 2014People do some weird things in their cars. Take these two gentlemen and their Honda Civic. Rather than tune in to satellite radio or hook up an iPod, they've opted to create their own music.
YouTube musician Flula (in the passenger seat) and his friend Chester perform a cover of Blackstreet's Number-One Billboard hit, "No Diggity," complete with the requisite auto tuning, all while on the go. Is it weird that we almost prefer this wacky version to the original '90s R&B classic? Take a look - and a listen - by scrolling below, and note that we've included the original song featuring Dr. Dre... you know, for comparative purposes.
British Honda CR-V looks tough, gets diesel and 9-speed auto
Wed, 01 Oct 2014Honda just took the wraps off of its thoroughly updated 2015 CR-V for the US, with a touch more style and improved powertrain to provide more torque and better fuel economy. In our First Drive, we found that all of the changes really focused the CUV even more towards the desires of its audience of mostly families. European crossover shoppers don't have to wait too long to see these tweaks for themselves and get a few exclusive upgrades of their own.
While US models get a torquier gasoline engine, Europe loves its diesels. Therefore, the CR-V over there benefits from a more powerful 1.6-liter i-DTEC oil-burner that produces 158 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This new addition is only available on the four-wheel drive version, and it replaces the previous 2.2-liter diesel in the lineup. Also as opposed to the CVT here, there's now an optional nine-speed automatic gearbox across the pond.
According to Honda, the new diesel with a six-speed manual drops emissions by 11 percent compared to its predecessor. Opting for the nine-speed auto makes things 20 percent cleaner in contrast to the previous 2.2-liter CR-V with an auto.
